Briggs was slurring his words in the post-fight interview he should never have been in the ring with Vitali because he did not deserve to be fighting for the title.

Lol most of the fighters fighting for it today are a disgrace to it and to every belt bolder past. As for Briggs saying Vitali hits harder than Foreman, give him a month and ask him again....He is still feeling Vitali's punches

why does everybody keep ignoring the fact that vitali is older than briggs?vitali's body has much more wear an tear than briggs does

Their age did not affect my post. Briggs was beat by S.Ibragimov, so we know at that age a few years ago he was that good or bad. Then he retired for awhile, came back beat a few bums and somehow got a title shot. He was no where near the fighter he was. Perhaps Vitali was taking Wladimir's cautious approach in the fight but when all was said and done, I feel a points victory doesn't not help any fan of his argument that he should be considered with the great punchers.

because briggs is far more washed up than Vitali is,thats why.It doesnt take a genius to figure that out.briggs has fought under a half a dozen rounds in three rounds against club fighters and you think briggs was a credible opponent?

well, your quick to call brigs old as if klitscho is young.the other top contenders(haye, valuev, povetkin) wouldnt fight.he couldve done much worse for an opponent than shannon briggs.he's already beat peter, arreola, and kevin johnson who were the next top contenders

how many title shots has demarcus corley gotten?nobody seems to complain about that

Briggs is way way past his prime, several times over. I think that being a asthmatic has effected his aging process severely, that and fighting Lennox Lewis and George Foreman for such long fights...Vitali still looks good, damn good, and yes he is frail(Had to retire due to constant injuries) But his career has not been long at all, and he has not had hardly any(If any) tough fights(as in taking a beating) I think that taking those years off really helped him, thus he is like a late 20ish year old in the ring.

asthma has definitely affected him but he hasnt been through hell in the ring.he was kod by lewis in 5 and got worked by 45 year old foreman.thats about it far as beatings.klitscho was in a war with sanders and a very brutal fight with lewis was was much worse than any thing briggs went through.and not to mention all the surgeries

Yeah, no way does Vitali hit anywhere close to as hard as Lewis. Old Briggs was taking Vitali's shots way better than prime Briggs took Lewis'.

Old Ali took Foreman's shots better than young Ali took Henry Cooper's therefore Henry Cooper is a much better puncher than George Foreman? Ever think that perhaps extra weight/ more experience taking punches and maybe a little brain damage could help a fighter take more punishment in the ring? Or would that require too much logic?
