Great Promoter, but what he did to fighters is ridiculous.

Tex Rickard promoted many great fights such as Johnson-Jeffries, Dempsey-Willard, Gans-Nelson and many others. I'm sure most historians today would give up their right arm to see a card featuring Jack Dempsey, Sam Langford and Harry Greb, like when Dempsey fought Miske for the title.
It was King's genius that made those fights like Foreman vs Ali & Ali vs Frazier lll... Ali vs Foreman was preceded by a 3 day music festival featuring the greatest black artists of the music world, it was a totally black experience that was thought up by Don King, If King was promoting Pacquiao vs Margarito in November we would be looking forward to several evenly matched world title fights on the bill of a 10 fight show whereas it is almost taken for granted that Bob Arum's promotion of the fight will feature 3 other fights of fighters nobody has ever heard of before. Over here in the U.K. we have just had a Frank Warren PPV show featuring 7 of Warren's rising stars against 7 journeymen/Tomato cans at a cost of ?6.99 the show simply was not worth the outlay. Don King ALWAYS made sure that each fight was an even money fight with that kind of matchmaking guaranteed to ensure a great nights entertainment and that is what i call Promoting.

I would also say he is, he made the fights that people wanted to see happen, simple.
