        Good call!..

Lopez & Hamed - The Foreman & Shavers of the FW division?

        Who else?

Alexis Arguello also had serious power at 126 but being a very tall fighter, wasn't able to stay at the weight.
Sandy Saddler had more KO's at FW than anyone but according to the gospel, a lot of these were with the head and elbows lol.
Henry Armstrong was more of a swarmer who had most of his fights at around 135, so again, wasn't really a genuine FW.
Olivares, Gomez, Jofre and Louie Espinoza were all great punchers, but mainly in the BW & SBW divisions.
What about Terry McGovern?.. Did he hit as hard as Hamed or Lopez?.. Tbh, I doubt it.

People say he was overrated simply because his flamboyant style attracted a lot of fans that didn't know or really care about boxing. Same way Pacquiao gets all that backlash now.

Fact of the matter is Naseem Hamed was one of the best guys in the 90s, peroid. He just lost his drive.

Finally, a thread which recognizes how awesome was Hamed..
Hamed was a real bad combination, makes him hard to adore. But you gotta love his fights.

I'm sorry to tell you, but Hagler was no 'class-act'.

In-fact, Naz had more class than Hagler.

You may have hated his promotional-persona/showmanship, but out of the ring he was a greater man than Hagler.
              In terms of class?

Ali>Hagler and Frazier but Hagler>Naz and Frazier

Hagler had a real boxer's class with a clugger's attitude. It was proper streetwise class.

Naz had class sure but he was so ****y and big-headed he started believing his own hype. He didn't prepare for Barrera properly and was far too busy concentrating on his magic carpet ring entrance and goatskin gloves than actually working on how to face a great boxer like Barrera. In fact he adopted his usual attitude of facing guys like McCullough and Kelley to Barrera and it backfired on a man who was used to seeing through glitz and glamour. Barrera's life was probably far rougher than anyone Naz had fought and it was more important to Barrera than to an already playboy lifestyle living Naz.

This is something that happens to most Brtish champions. They get the title for a few years and then lose it and Naz became a historic British champion for holding the title as long as he did. He succeeded on territory that previous British fighters had failed, think about Minter and McGuigan, but failed where ATGs like Morales, Barrera, Pacquiao (even JMM) have doen well and thats picking yourself up from a loss and continuing your career.

His power made him vulnerable to good boxers and injury prone so I go along with consensus. He is a HOFer but not an ATG.

All Time Greats are not injury prone.

Predictions: I think if he carried on fighting in that style Morales and Pacquiao would have dusted him but he'd have KO'ed JMM.

danny lopez as some posters have mentioned. I think Azumah nelson & Pacquiao hits harder than naz.

Anybody can look great knocking out mediocre opposition.

Which can only suggest that Hamed belongs somewhere in the top 5.

                    His punching power was ferocious.

And that was one thing I thought all haters and fans of Hamed agreed on!
