i wouldn't think so, but i can't say i'm an expert on the man. personally i think he's a clown so i avoid his fights.

They were used as examples, perhaps you missed that.
You attempted to discredit Hameds wins over the three fighters mentioned by ringing up the fact that they hadn't accomplished much after their fight with Hamed.
Now,how did Gomez and fenech's careers fare after their fights with Nelson?
It's a pretty simple question to answer.Don't worry, you don't need to actually start watching the sport to look this up.

Where did I claim Hamed was an ATG? I did claim that he had a better resume as a featherweight than Marquez.

Never discredited Hamed and actually said he was good for boxing. You chose to omit that cause it doesn't fit your agenda. The only good fighter he fought in his prime was Barrera, Paul Ingle was pretty good cause he had skills and was gutty and do give Hamed alot a credit for that one. Think what ever you want to think and believe what ever you make up in your mind. Gomez lost to an ATG in Sanchez and did pretty well and lost to Nelson who is a ATG. Didn't follow Fenech career in depth and that is why I didn't mention himLast edited by TOBYLEE1; 04-14-2010, 09:44 PM.

What you are saying is baseless and false. It's just speculation you use to feel better about the situation.
Kind of like bitching about a ticket saying the cop just wanted to screw you even though you were speeding - it's baseless but it makes you feel better.

to be honest, obviously your an older american with a degree of boxing knowledge, however when it comes to boxing the majority of Americans act the same. Whatever age. They dont give credit where credits due to non american fighters - so whether it be Lennox Lewis, Naseem Hamed, Joe Calzaghe, Azumah Nelson, Manny Pac, David Haye etc, they just dont recieve any credit. How many Naseem Hamed fights have you watched to make a judgement on him? if you just watched the fights on HBO, dont bother typing back.

imo yes he was an all-time great featherweight. if not for his actual in-ring achievements, then for his influence over the featherweight and super-featherweight divisions. all of the hbo crew acknowledge that he seemed to awaken the the division in the mid-90s, a dead division in boxing. he has a legit track record but really, he cannot be considered alongside barrera, pacman or morales for the simple fact that he gave up when he lost to barrera.
to the people that say his one loss to barrera shows that wasnt an ATG... well pacman utterly schooled barrera twice, does that mean that he isnt an ATG? naz made the misatke of totally losing faith in himself when he lost ONE FIGHT. instead of accepting it, and going back to the drawing board, he chose to quit. for me, i will always equate naz quitting to duran's "no mas" moment. he just gave up when the going got tough, and that makes me respect him a lot less.
naz was every bit as talented as pacman imo, he is just didnt have the heart of a champion like pacman does. it's a shame, because when barrera beat him naz was still only a young fighter with plenty of time to improve. i think with naz, he made the mistake of believing that he really was unbeatable, and when that proved not to be the case, it shattered his masculine pride.
all i know for certain is that naz walked away from a huge amount of american dollars when he retired. he was beaten by barrera but the american curiosity was still there and he was still a marketable fighter. in the end, naz quitting robbed us all of some great fights with pacman, morales and barrera...Last edited by dcull111; 04-16-2010, 11:03 AM.
