He ended his career in such a way that many people outside of the UK and the average boxing fan will always have a negative opinion on him.

He did it to himself. He had a rematch with Barrera in his contract and he didn't exercise it. He should have taken that fight and trained his ass off for it.

Had he done that it wouldn't even be a question - it would be known that he was an ATG featherweight.

Tom Johnson is his best win.Tom Johnson, the man who had been regarded as the best featherweight on the planet for two years at the time Hamed beat him.I wouldn't expect a newb such as yourself to know that though.

Juan Manuel Marquez doesn't have the resume of a great either, yet he will probably be inducted to the hall of fame when he's retires.

Hamed's resume as a featherweight is far superior to that of Marquez's.

Marquez beat Barrera and (arguably) Pacquiao. Name one win on Hamed's resume that comes anywhere NEAR those. And he beats Hamed h2h, too.

Sorry matey, but fantasy matchups and fights that you actually lost don't count on your resume.

Marquez never beat a past it barrera at featherweight either.

Ok, fine. Marquez's best wins are at super-feather. And the Pacquiao DRAW (not a loss) was at feather and could have just as easily been a win. And that doesn't change the fact that Hamed was an underachiever for his talent.

As soon as he fought a hall of famer he lost. Most of the champs he beat were on the last stages of their career and didn't do anything after the lost to Hamed. Boom Boom Johnson, Vazquez and Medina had their best days behind. Hamed had a punch and brought a lot of money to the weight with a lot of exposure.

He did bring the crowds cause of his antics, but in the end he was good for boxing. After Barrera he didn't step it up for the other challenges

boxrec is a very useful site but relying on the site for all information tends form a very ignorant mind.

While you're over at boxrec, take a look at what Gomez and fenech did in their careers post Nelson.

How did Gomez and Fenech get into this conversation?

The same way Marquez did: he's trying to distract from the fact that Hamed is clearly not an ATG.
