In the main event of an excruciatingly bad pay-per-view -- perhaps the worst ever (for real) -- the 48-year-old Holyfield looked every bit his age. The former four-time heavyweight titleholder is one of the greatest heavyweights of all time, but is now so far removed from being a quality fighter it is simply sad to watch. He let a journeyman opponent he once would have crushed without breaking a sweat smack him around with right hands and dominate the first three rounds until the anticlimactic ending of what had been an abysmal night. (Don't even ask about the Ray Charles and Bruce Springsteen imitators singing between fights and the female t****ze artist. Seriously.)

Williams, a 38-year-old native of the Ba***** based in Ft. Pierce, Fla., was fighting for only the third time since 2007 and he had not fought since a loss in October 2009. Yet there he was taking it to Atlanta's worn-out Holyfield, backing him up with right hands. All Holyfield could do was bounce up and down and side to side with little ability to fire a meaningful shot. I have no doubt that Niko is intelligent. He seemed very well spoken in any interviews. I also would not question his integrity.

I just don't believe any fighter really would lose a fight deliberately out of concern for his opponent.

On a tangent, Holyfield and Jones share the distinction of being two of the worst examples of great champions dragging their name through the slurry pit and back again by fighting on long after their abilities had evaporated. Long, long after. Both men appear basically OK as of now, Holyfield at 61 and Jones at 55, and for that they are both very fortunate. Going forward into old age, it's anyone's guess how they'll hold up; bless em'.

I think that a 4/5 ready Douglas gets to push and bump Jones off his game.

Fact is Field disappeared from the ratings in 2001 because he had his license suspended because he was running on fumes.

Roy Jones never had his license suspended in these years as one example of another fighter hanging on past his best, and moreover Roy ain't punch drunk and is worth millions and not the sad shadow of Vander forced into bankruptcy career with peanut purses unable to pay his various child support and divorce payments that saw him lose his mansion.

On September 3, 2021, it was reported that , who had been slated to headline a Triller PPV show against on September 11, had been hospitalized with , and that Holyfield would be stepping in for De La Hoya. The event was originally scheduled to take place in California, however, the refused to sanction a bout with Holyfield in any capacity–exhibition or professional. The bout was subsequently moved to Florida after the Florida State Athletic Commission agreed to sanction the bout as an exhibition. Holyfield lost via first-round technical knockout.
