Interesting theory how Foreman hit so hard - no elbow flex!

Fromm a Quora user (operations research analysist).

"Believe it or not, part of it is technique. He never bent his elbows. That creates kind of an awkward look, but every punch came from a full swing. There is a lot energy lost in most punches where the hip twist energy doesn’t actually make it to the fist."

What the user is saying is that when you punch from a chamber, your force transitions from bent elbow to extended, and this loses/restarts the momentum.

Compare flicking a kick to swinging it locked out... Same principle. One is a whip, the other is a baseball bat.

I don't flex mine either and you can see the energy potential even though im just demonstrating here.

You create a break in the chain at any point you lose all that potential energy. Whether this break be in the sequencing, the timing, a bad habit like sticking the elbow out...

When you have potential energy in your body through movement, the simplest way to deliver it is to have the strike, extended to maximum, and to hit the target as your foot hits the ground.

The elbow is a place where a lot of potential energy is lost as the elbow bends. This is for many many reasons.
This karate guy explains it. Nevermind he's talking kicks, it's the same principle

He already stated why …power comes through the forearms he had 16 inch forearms at his later career or so …….when you have thick or very strong hands going fro hand to wrist to forearms you generally can punch with more force .

Beterbiev does a lot of arm wrestling stuff regimen, it strengthens the punch he doesn’t go crazy there’s more he can do etc……

Golovkin probably got it from him ? Idk but forearm strength can make the biggest guys embarrassed, Ive seen Beterbiev pin Mahkmudov in arm wrestling and he was shocked .

So we got non-bent elbow, then strong forearms. I've heard large fists too as a theory, even wrist size too.

What else we got. Oh yes that the power comes from the legs. Like Tua and Tyson look at how thick their legs are. Or actually, it's from being tall lanky guys like Hearns and G-Man.

All kidding aside, there's tons of theories on what it could be but there are always and I mean always examples of hard punchers who don't have that attribute.

There are different ways to generate power. This was only in regards to Foreman.
