Foreman came right after Holyfield and a champion usually takes an easy defense before stepping up to his next big challenge.

In Moorer case there really wasn't a 'big fight' challenge avaiable at that moment, and Foreman, being Gerorge was not only an 'easy defense' but would be an extraordinary payday as well.

So I think, within the tradition of prize fighting I wouldn't call the Foreman fight a 'cherry pick.'

    Just a mistake.

I think Nino Benvenuti made the same mistake with Monzon. He was coming off a 'come from behind win' over Luis Rodriguez and thought he was taking on an easy defense with #10 Monzon next.

It was a homecoming, in Rome, with no American live television coverage. TV didn't think the defense worthy of coverage.

Had he blown out Monzon as expected would we call the fight a 'cherry pick' today? Probably!

But it is really part of the tradition.
    Well said sir.
