Yeah major double standards when it comes to Rocky. Mostly because of his appearance and style, his best qualities aren’t out in the open.

Yes I had heard the Willie Pep story before.

According to William Nack of Sport's Illustrsted (I believe) there was no parting of the way with Al Wiell. Weill had Marciano signed to a lifetime contract where they split any money generated from Rocky's boxing career 50-50 (including post boxing speaking engagements.)

Much like the lifetime contract Tommy Dorsey had Frank Sinatra bound to.

It's in Nack's article where Rocky, at a speaking engagement, turned down a $2000 check asking for $500 in cash.

Nack also claims that Rocky traveled with a suitcase full of *****s. So who knows.

The book frequently mentions how dirty he fought and the roughhouse tactics he used. I guess there is no debate about that. It also makes some interesting points on his style. He would often fake getting hurt to get an opponent to open up. I am about halfway through the book and Ive never read about a boxer knocking this many men completely unconscious to the point where they are snoring. Even as a youth of 160 lbs, he was said to be knocking guys out cold.
