Wilder destroys Marciano faster than Hearns destroyed Duran. It's a hopeless mismatch.
If Wilder ever signed to fight someone like Rocky Marciano, the people picking Rocky in this thread would be bashing Wilder for taking on someone so small and light. It would be like Wilder signing to fight Canelo (EXCEPT CANELO HAS A LONGER REACH than ROCKY DID).
Wilder isn't going to lay on the ropes like Archie Moore and let the 188-pound Rocky hit him a thousand times.
Wilder uses his distance to great effect. He remains on the outside until he's ready to punch. The only person he wasn't successful against with this was Fury, because Fury was 40 pounds heavier than Wilder (and 100 pounds heavier than Rocky), is bigger than Wilder and fights at a distance, too. And Wilder still floored Fury four times.
And Wilder hasn't outweighed an opponent in 10 years. The guys he's destroying are super heavyweights who all outweigh Wilder by 20, 40, 60 pounds.
I'd love it if they let Wilder fight 5'10 188-pound brawlers like Rocky. Wilder could fight for another 20 years destroying tiny midgets like that.
Wilder-Marciano is one of the biggest mismatches in fantasy heavyweight matchups. There's NOTHING Rocky can do to win. He can't outbox Wilder from the outside. He can't outpunch Wilder. Rocky can't avoid Wilder's punches. Wilder maintains his distance so there's no inside fight to be had by Rocky. Wilder annihilates heavier men. The last guy Wilder outweighed lasted less than 30 seconds in the ring with him. Wilder would outweigh Marciano by 30 pounds.
It's a lethal fight for Rocky. You put one of those old referees from the 1950s in there who let fights go to their natural conclusion (and don't just wave them off when a guy is hurt) and Rocky likely leaves the ring on a stretcher (like Spzilka) and never comes out of the hospital alive.
He'd be Wilder's easiest title win. Easier than Breazeale, because Dominic was at least big enough to mix it up for a minute or so. Rocky wouldn't even achieve that.
Hell, just have Canelo sign to fight Wilder. By the time the bell rang and some of Canelo's super middleweight and light heavyweight opponents rehydrated, they were bigger than a lot of the guys Rocky faced.
A more realistic fantasy matchup would be Marciano-Beterbiev. Although Beterbiev is bigger than Marciano, too, and might hit harder than Rocky.
