I've been saying for years that Vitaly and Carnera had very similar styles. Obviously Vits was better, but the way the hold their hands and move....it almost looks like Vits emulates Primo.

Those gloves are really tiny. When using the earlier equipment in mythical match ups methinks the earlier fighter more often wins merely because he is used to the gear and the gear of every era exacted the best way to fight with that particular gear though gear itself has always been evolving too.

With gloves that size imagine the pain a man 6' and--say--oh--200 lbs could dish out to a lumbering beast like Primo and the speed with which he could do it, if you will. The announcer himself points out that Dempsey is far the most nimble man in the ring that night. Jack would likely slaughter all awkward twins of Primo like the K twins as well.

You cannot short Primo on energy and the will to prevail that night. His punches were all arm, or he would kill a man. One of the top bodies ever in boxing. The man is hard as marble.

Primo almost looks like a ballerina on his toes in most fights I've seen, the most deliberately misunderstood fighter in boxing history.

A prominent "historian" put some doctored down Vitali footage to compare with Jess Willard and the limited footage match eerily similar, but of course Vit has much better footwork than Ali or Willard, controlling distance like Wlad that allowed the Ks to dominate all opponents on the cards regardless of result.

They needed to tag team the worst era ever. Hardly something to brag about. They were both good fighters, but try not to get to far ahead of yourself. And yes, Vits and Primos style were very similar.
