No. Ali CARRIED Terrell. Why? Because he wanted to punish him, which he did brutally, and with every punch that landed he taunted Terrell with "What's my name? What's my name?". That was as uncalled for as what Patterson got.

I'm sure both Patterson and Terrel had a method to their madness. Even if his parents called him Clay, what can he do about it? He can't beat up his own parents. Patterson did it because he genuinely didn't like Ali and the NOI. Terrel did it probably to get a rise out of Muhammad so Ali could make mistakes in the fight. Both IMO were wrong. Who are we to tell someone what their name is? If someone wants to call themselves a certain thing, then that is his or her business. It's disrespectful to undermine that and call them what ever you want. Maybe as far as sportsmanship goes, what Ali did was wrong, but I can't really blame him because I can only imagine the rage and the disrespect he must have felt, just like I can't really blame Joe Frazier for what he thought about Ali in recent years.

Ali shouldnt of said several of the harsh things he said to Frazier, Patterson, ect. Duran shouldnt of acted the way he did toward Leonard. Both was childish, and nothing close to mature. Both statements are wrong towards fellow man, so why argue which is worse?

            So true.

I think it was a case of hypocrisy.

"Cassius Clay is disgracing himself and the Negro race. No decent person can look up to a champion whose cred is "hate whites." I have nothing but contempt for the Black ******s and that for which they stand. The image of a Black ****** as the world heavyweight champion disgraces the sport and the nation. Cassius Clay must be beaten and the Black ******s' scourge removed from boxing."

He said more than just calling him Clay. I don't shed a tear for Patterson.

I certainly don't have a problem with Patterson's statement: The Nation Of Islam preaches hate and always have. That's why Malcolm X eventually left them.....and was murdered by them for it. I have a problem with people hating others for their race, whether it's the Klan hating blacks, ****'s hating ***s, or......Nation Of Islam hating whites. I have zero tolerance for it.
