[QUOTE=hhascup;2018947]ROBO, in the 1st bout they boxed to a draw, BUT most people thought Lewis won and in the 2nd bout Lewis won outright.
    Here's the score cards:

    1st Bout
    Judge: Stanley Christodoulou 116-113
    Judge: Eugenia Williams 113-115
    Judge: Larry O'Connell 115-115

    2nd Bout
    Judge: Chuck Giampa 116-112
    Judge: Bill Graham 117-111
    Judge: Jerry Roth 115-113

Yeah i know the scores Henry, tho i dont know how they came to them, especially in the 1st fight! I wouldnt say Holy was robbed but i thought it was a poor decision. Also bare in mind Evander was past his peak at this point, God he needs to retire!

Fights against Bartley Madden, Martin Burke, Jack Herman, etc., also came at heavyweight.
Dempsey was a good boxer from 1918-1923, holyfield was good from 87-99. Geez i wonder who is better, dempsey was ****ty from 1914-1917, 50 of his wins are against F level fighters.

Before Dempsey became Champion he beat most of the top contenders. He stopped Fred Fulton, Billy Miske, Carl Morris, Gunboat Smith, among others. In 1925, he signed to box the "Black" Heavyweight Champion Harry Wills, But the bout fell through.

holyfield did more, thats my point bud. Its not even a comparison, dempsey is padded with guys that have losing records or are straight up chumps. Bert cooper would have been a big win for dempsey. Gunboat smith is a chump, the fact that he was a big win is what makes it laughable.

Yea, I agree, BUT I went to the press conference they had for him in New York for the Oquendo bout. He stated that he was injured for several years and needed to take the time off. Now he says, he is healthy and wants to become the undisputed Heavyweight Champion.

his resume sucks, i'm glad he was the great white hope for his era, but dont change facts with reality. Holyfield would have whooped his butt. His record is padded and he aint that great.

No offense, but I have very little time for posters who have to rely on BoxRec as their primary or only source of information in regards to fighters.

Louis was coming off an ass kicking from ezzard. Another thing, rocky quit when he was 32, holyfiled kept fighting and was actually good until he was 37ish. So he was a solid fighter for 12 years, which is double the amount of time that rocky was a solid fighter.

Ezzard and tunney belong on the light heavyweights lists, thats where they were the best.
LMAO!!!!! You're killing me with this Tunney was a light-heavy, Charles was a light-heavy, Marciano wasn't a real heavy stuff. What do you think Evander Holyfield was?! What do you think his weight would have been if he had been fighting in their time periods and didn't have the advent of modern weight training?!

The fact is Tunney was a far bettter boxer than Holyfield was and all anyone has to do to see this is watch the footage. I actually am a big fan of Evander Holyfield and loved his passion for the sport and his never say die attitude; but that doesn't mean I'm going to buy into any grandiose post-modernistic bs that he was better than all who came before him. I think he was the greates cruiseweight of all time and feel p4p he was above exceptional...and had the biggest, or one of the biggest hearts ever. However, Holy had a sub-par defense and was not as technically astute as Tunney nor Charles. He might have done better in an era with smaller heavies, so, I'm really not taking anthing awaw from him...he's a solid Top 15 World Heavyweight Champ...but I can't put him in the top 10 in good conscious.
