I think the problem you'll run into here, is that in small field races you're going to see a lot of horses with 5/2, 8/5, 9/5, 7/2 type odds. And more often than not, a favorite that's even money, or even 4/5.

For a 10 cent superfecta you're looking at a $12 ticket. Soooo many times those 10 cent supers pay $5-$10. They definitely have the potential to pay much, much more. But is that going to happen enough times to cover the losses, is the real question. For me, with $12, I'd rather just try and hit a $2 Trifecta Box.

Personally, I don't get fancy too often. Derby Day I will play around with Superfectas because of the potential to make life changing money, but for the most part, I just place Win bets.

I think if you see a 7/5, 4/5, 8/5, favourite and there's only 8 horses running I would risk it that they will not win. I mean especially in trot or pace.
You still need to look at the field though.
It may be a riskier bet on allowance than on maiden.

I think you'd be (too often) looking at needing the longshot to come in, in order to make any real money at it.

There are situations that I don't always think are taken into consideration, where you can spot a decent long shot.

My last time out in Vegas I hit the longest shot I've ever hit. He was 30/1 when I placed the bet. They were going one mile on fast track. This horse, with this jockey, at this track had the fastest time at the distance of any horse in the race. Third off a layoff and improved upon his first race back, in his most previous.

They run it wire to wire and odds closed at 78/1 (which as you know, horse racing isn't fixed odds. You get whatever odds they close at).

How much money did you make on that bet?

I tend to shy away to win bet. as I prefer the exotics.
yeah, you still need to spot the good looking long shot to bet. I usually take a look at post parade and see how they trot their stuff. and who's been snortin an pumpin lasix
Might try to go and see if my system make me some dough today and 2morrow before I go to work.

Anyone throwing any money on Carlos Cuadras over Roman Gonzalez?

Roman seems hot right now, but Carlos is +700 amazingly to me & he's arguable the best guy Roman has fought & for sure is in the top 3 & is bigger + undefeated himself + seems to be a very capable puncher so who knows what could happen with Roman moving up one more division.

Whatever the case this doesn't feel like a 90/10 fight like the odds suggest, I mean in comparison Liam Smith is +725 & I feel like he's more or less a human sacrifice to Canelo, so seems like there is a lot of value in Carlos bets. Just throwing this out there for the betting boxing fans.

                I just dropped some on

                Brook-GGG 8 rounds or under at 8/11.

I was just going to do under 6 at first, but the odds seemed generous all the way upto the 8th.

Had like $100 in my TwinSpires account a couple of months ago. Found a couple of deep closers that I liked with long odds, with a 4/1 that I liked to win the race.

They were the 7 horse, the 11 horse and 12.

                  It came 7 (4/1 odds), 12 (77/1 odds) and 11 (27/1 odds).

The sick part is that the 12 horse only lost by a head or so, and was FLYING up on the 7. Another gallop and I get 77/1 odds on top, and this payout becomes a LOT more.

Damn, that was a pretty good bet.

Do you have any tips on what to look for when picking horses? I've never gambled on that sport before.
