I know there's usually a protocal with paying 7% but do people usually do that? I usually just pay $6.00 on any bill when I go out and eat. I think that's a fair tip. How you usually do it? Is it based on the bill or it's always the same?

How much do you tip?

15% if its good service.
20% if its exceptional.
If its substandard, I start subtracting from the 15%.
In estalisments which automatically deduct a "gratuity", I tip nothing, as they've already predetermined what they feel their servers are due, whether they are good or not. Generally, I will avoid these establishments altogether.

Too much. I over tip all the time if the person is cool or if service is very professional. Today at breakfast we tipped $7 on 25 which is too much but not a big deal. My issue is when I tip 30 bucks on 100, totally unnecessary. I think I do it because I don't want people thinking I'm cheap lol, it's to satisfy my own ego. That being said if the person isn't very good I have no issue leaving nothing. Yesterday the bartender asked if I was driving(i wasnt) because I had 5 double rye mojitos in an hour and she thought that was a bit much. I don't mind the question, but she kept going on about it. I left her five bucks on sixty just for the nagging.

I over tip, my partner's family on the other hand.. ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh, not so much?
I swear under tipping pisses me off to no ends. These folks depend on tips more so than their hourly wages and some assholes actually feel upset leaving some change behind.
