    Any of you maggots meditate?

I just started meditating frequently this past week and I think its helping with my anger, irritability and just a bit with my anxiety, though I have a long way to go. The way I learned it is simply by sitting comfortably with eyes closed, focusing on breathing and trying to clear your mind. Obviously you cannot stop yourself from thinking and completely blank your mind, but your brain/mind is in a relaxed state, not worrying or focusing on anything in particular.

I do it for 20 minutes in the morning, 5 minutes in the afternoon and another 15-20 minutes in the evening. The hardest part about it is disciplining yourself to take the time out of the day to do it.

    What say you?

The idea is to completly clear your mind but its a very hard thing to do if you have a job, bills, kids and a wife.

That is why monks cant have materialistic possesions or ***ual partners because all of this clouds your mind and makes you unable to be at one with yourself

To answer you question, yes I used to be able to do it when I was young with no resposiblilties but now I have all the things that I mentioned in my first scentence.

I can still do it but its much harder and I dont put any time aside for it these days so I attempt it very rarely.

But it seems that you are benefitting from it so keep it up.

I can't completely clear my mind and I don't think anyone could. While I don't have a wife or any children, I still have responsibilities and plenty to be be concerned about. Plus thoughts race through my mind when sitting in silence, which is why I can't sleep without the TV on. I freak out.

Thats the thing, it is possible to clear your concience mind but it is near impossible for any of us who live the consumer lifestyle.

The idea is to clear the concience mind and allow our subconcience mind to take over and it can show and take us places.

Monks in Tibet etc devout their whole lives to this practice and can control their subconcience and can experience things that we can only dream of.

I know I sound like some stoner hippy but I have had a small experience in this when I was younger so I know that it is competely possible but we are too enthralled in our materialistic lives to realize.

The subconcience is nearly unexplored in western science.
