either you're lying or ignorant on the subject, since its well documented there was severe droughts in some regions and flooding in others.
In July 1959, the Yellow River flooded in East China. According to the Disaster Center, the flood directly killed, either through starvation from crop failure or drowning, an estimated 2 million people, while other areas were affected in other ways as well.[13] It could be ranked as one of the deadliest natural disasters of the 20th century.[14]

In 1960, an estimated 60% of agricultural land in northern China received no rain at all.[15] The Encyclopędia Britannica yearbooks from 1958 to 1962 also reported abnormal weather, followed by droughts and floods based on Chinese government sources. This included 760 millimetres (30*in) of rain in Hong Kong across five days in June 1959, part of a pattern that hit all of Southern China.[16]
Also, not sure if you are an idiot, most likely you are, but flooding of river deltas spreads nutrients resulting in MORE FERTILE LAND!

So Mao managed to take an event that should have increased crop yields, and turned it into something worse?

I get it, you are a dirty commie, probably don't shower or use soap, and love Mao.

The Yellow River flood was a natural disaster that had no bearing on the famine at all. Rain is good for crops. Not sure what backwards ideas you have in your head.

I mean seriously, you create an environment devoid of opposition, and wonder why a brutal murderous dictatorship always results?

The idea of revolution is backwards. The only way to what can reasonably be thought of as communism is through capitalist progress. You see how things that were once only play things of the rich, and now tools of the everyman. Things like smartphones, and tv's and cars.

Progress brings things into reach of all of society. As the means of production become less resource intensive, they will eventually become basically free.
i think it's clear you literally do not understand what communism is or means.

ppl need to learn communism doesn't work.

it looks good on paper , in theory. but it never works in practice.

most kids learn why at a young age.

when mom goes on about the virtues of a clean house, sharing duties and working together but everyone still don't do ****.

then pops comes and offers you 5 bucks to vacuum and you jump on it.

it was more incompetence really, which is worse.

mao had all these ****** programs that was mostly responsible.

establishing farming communes while eliminating private farms which were more productive.

trying to get agricultural ppl into heavy industry, sounds good but not when there's famine.

exporting food and giving food aid to other cominterns to give the illussion of how his great PLANS were. (mao tried a bunch of farming theories he read from soviet theorists. they didn't work)

the pest extermination program was hilarious. they mobilized millions to exterminate pests who ate seedsand plants. it worked. unfortunately the pests they killed actually killed worst pests like you know locusts. lol they made things worse.
The whole point of the great leap was to transform the economy from agrarian to industrialized. To this end, people in industry were gaurunteed food rations. The undesirable, unskilled pessants were not, and food was literally taken from their mouths to give to the more politically desirable individuals.

It was not all some misunderstanding. They knew people were dying, and starving, but it was all in the name of "progress".

People do not manage to gain leadership of an entire country through incompetence, so this constant trope of the incompetent leader who just made bad decisions and didn't know what he was doing is nonsense.

most of it was incompetence. it wasn't all intentional.

biggest problem was local party leaders.

they were encouraged to inflate their crop production. a good communist is a productive communist right?

so these fools would lie about their yields and estimates.

This is Pol Pot's grave. Didn't have a camera that day so borrowed someone's and forgot to shut the timestamp off.

                      Not much is it?

This is in the Dangkrek Mountains near the Thai Border. There were still areas where I went to that hadn't been cleared of landmines which really are an effective way of protecting your leaders. I damn near stepped near a red tree that day which signifies the area hasn't been cleared yet. Scary ****.

But he died an ignoble death. People actually believe Pol Pot brings luck so there was a spirit house and offerings there.
