Yeah I think you pay the first time because like you say you don't feel obligated to do it again if you don't get on.

But then you'd want her to offer to go halves and if there is a next time you go halves or you do a you go and I go sort of casual basis.

Pay the first time any way. It will give you a chance to see what type of person she is...does she order the most expensive items on menu just because you're paying? Order additional food to go? Is she rude to the servers and staff?

I would let her know before to not take advantage of me especially if she knows she wants nothing to do with me moving forward.
