As for La Liga clubs not being able to spend like Premier league clubs, that's a La Liga problem. They dont share the beans out equally hence why all teams besides the state sponsored Barca and R Madrid are poor in comparison.

I doubt any club could have sustained success without bending certain rules tbh. I don't mind it, English chairman of the past were dodgey as hell.

Saying Real is one of the top 5 clubs in the world is like saying water falls from the sky when it rains.

Hand over heart though, La Liga is pretty poor.

I genuinely believe Fulham could finish in Europe places in La Liga.

A one off game, they'll lose to anyone in that league. Give them the full season? Fulham finish top 6.

It is weird that Japanese players haven't yet increased their value despite

1.) Being part of the best Japan team of all time.
2.) Very fit and technical and having a lot of players now thriving in Europe because essentially this is how the game is played now...everywhere relying on these features. High press. Short passing. Getting up and down the pitch.

The Japan team at the world cup really were a quarter/semi final sort of team.

They fronted up Spain and Germany and won.

Back in the day you would get like the odd Superstar like Honda, Kagawa, or Nakamura. But apart from Kagawa even they would play for 2nd rate teams.

I think it's racism tbh. Nothing less.

The age old trope would be that Japanese players would he undersized and prone to suffer against the physicality of even the lesser European and South American nations.

Conversely, I get that Argentina won a world cup and Fernandez played a decent role but he is still a novice pro in Europe.

He is benefiting from the stereotype that Argentinians are tough, skillful, passionate.

In reality if Chelsea spend a £100 mill on him it is a massssive risk.

1. He's incredibly young and the culture shift from Portugal to England is hard.

2. It is a physical league with terrible officials who will have a pre conceived notion of the Argentinian hot head. He will probably find he is a walking yellow card.

3. Chelsea are very unpopular. The press hate them, rival fans hate them. English people do not like Argentinians. Pressure will mount immediately.
