The tv money in england is huge like 9bn or so.. United got around 111m of that. Barca/Madrid got close to 200m from a deal nowhere near as big as that because they take all the money for themselves..
Is it any wonder.. ****e uncompetitive league outside of the top 3.. gives all 3 teams a big edge in europe?
Barca and Real have a deal which gives them more than the rest, the remainder of the league get relatively low TV money.
Premier League teams get a base minimum in TV money, then extra for every live game shown. Premier League teams on average get £80million from TV alone and next season that average jumps to £120million per team, Atletico bring in £89million in total revenue.
The Premier League teams get FAR more money than their direct comparison from other leagues, yet the league is so bad that Leicester have won it with games to spare. Even Bayern have recently spoke on how they have to find new avenues of money to compete with the Premier League purely due to TV rights.
Let's not lie; the Premier League has been a a 3 horse race (or less) for 20 years. Utd won it more often than not, Arsenal would grab one here and there (not for over a decade) then Chelsea and City got taken over by billionaires and won some...that's it. La Liga's 3 are just better than the Premier League's 3, hence the point differential.Last edited by gmc_rfc_06; 05-04-2016, 10:14 AM.

China's richest man owns 20% of Atletico, they have major sponsors in Azerbaijan and India.
Their own TV deal will go up 90 million Euros next season.
They will move stadium in 2017 - selling prime real estate in the city centre and building a new bigger stadium on the outskirts the City. (No English club would get away with this)
They more than any club have indulged in 3rd party ownership (bit dodgy)
They like the other dodgy Big two took out a huge loan from the state. Most of the Aguero money went to servicing that dept . Somehow they managed to sign Falcow for more money despite this.
They also have a special relationship with Jorge Mendes super-agent.
Peter Kenyon works for them and is the best businessman in footy.
And of course they have Simeone.
But to compare them to Newcastle is a bit off. They are both slightly dodgy (in the best possible sense) and extremely financially astute.
Our clubs wouldn't be able to do what they do.
Newcastle couldn't go to the Government and ask for £300 million or bring in a loan. They also didn't benefit from the now completely illegal third party ownership.
Some the secret of their success is a still thought of as a bit of a secret. See dodgy.
Atletico are no minnows, imo. And we all know the Spanish clubs are dodgy as fuck anyway.
It is different. English football is put on a pedestal from an ethics point of view that the rest of football simply isn't.Last edited by Sparked_26; 05-04-2016, 10:45 AM.

The new La Liga TV deal guarantees all clubs €50million (£39million), the Premier League guarantees all clubs £100million.
All other leagues need other revenue streams to compete, and in the case of most, cannot.

From that list; Mandzukic, Turan, Miranda and Garcia are gone. Replaced with Carrasco, Luis, Augusto, Savic and Thomas who are on less.
Can bet a heap of those are on more money now.

It's a bit pointless comparing wage bills of teams in different countries.
They are set up differently. Bonuses, signing on fees etc can be different.
I can't see Griezmann getting 50k stock when he was hot property across Europe when they signed him.

There's been some notable changes due to new contracts. As of now, they have 3 players on £100k or more per week; Griezmann, Koke and Godin.
Torres and Tiago have dropped significantly, there wage bill will remain in the £60million range.

Koke is the highest paid, with two other on over £100k.
