Why do so few fighters include the jab to the body as a key part of their arsenal?

i feel exact same and wonder why people risk a right hand above the ear for a "not very efficient" jab to the body... i rmbr reading some responses in another thread... but i still dont feel like its worth the risk :/

A jab to the body is more to set something up its not about putting alot of power behind it, gradually you want your opponent to think its coming so he drops his hands lower and lower then you come with a power shot...BUT a GOOD STIFF jab to the body like Floyd has will wear on you and will slow you down.

            exactly!

            to ts:

if you leave your head straight up in the air when you throw it than expect to be hit. If you get low and duck your chin into your chest when you throw it you will notice that the shoulder takes care of you. If you want to add the jab to the body than I recommend learning to feint a guy up and down and learning to make the guy 'bite' on your feints. Educate your left hand, it will pay dividends. An educated jab knows more than just 1 target ............ Rockin'

I saw a bit of the bag work, how many bouts have you had?

No comments yet on the bag work though. I may step om your trainers toes by doing so. Chances are that I know or have met him if he's been in Detroit a while.............. Rockin'
