Sorry Samoram, I just dont believe someone who is 35 pounds off a six pack (two and a half stone!!!!) can run those times unless you are overestimating the distance you run..........and all uphill! It is a ridiculously fast pace for someone who is trim! I'm guessing in boxing terms you are cruiser-heavyweight? Further blunting your distance running time.

Try it on a proper flat 400 metre track. Thats 32 laps for eight miles. You'll have to average close to 1 min 30 a lap! Seriously tough going.

I dont mean to be disrespectful, its just that I know a fair bit about running and what to expect in terms of speed/distances and I'm really struggling with your stats.

i do a 1 to 1 interval with 4 mph being the walk and then do 1 min at 4.5 mph then back to 4 for a min then 5 for a min then 4 for a min then 5.5 for min then 3 for a min then 6 for a min then 4 for a min then 6.5 for a min then 4 for a min etc till i max out then i do it again about 4 or 5 miles with 2 of those.

if you find that your skin becomes flushed like redish it means youve confused your body and its released a chamical that will assist in fat burning so during the high interval sections your body can just continue burning fat instead of switching over to carbs. this chemical will stay in your body for up to 24 hours helping you continue to burn fat.

well I have measured my run (in a car) its 8 miles, and my best time was 48 minutes, as i said before I a big borad guy, always have been, i eat way too much, but I'm very athletic and very fit, I have amazingly fast hands and feet for a big white guy (I guess it my Itallian hetiage), i do he run with like 30lb of weights atateched to me, then when i do the run with no weights i can do it much much faster.

Thats what I feared Samoram.............you measured it in a car! Not an accurate way of measuring at all, often not even a solid indicator.

When I was younger I'd do hour runs around town and the countryside and measure them in a car to about ten miles and thats what I'd tell my friends who ran track 'I ran 10 miles in an hour yesterday'. Lets just say I got some funny looks! 10 MPH is ridiculously fast for a non competing athlete.

When I actually decided to measure my pace on track or on a correctly measured road run I found out that 10 miles in an hour was a gross exaggeration and that at the time 8-8.5 miles to the hour would have been a more accurate figure over hilly terrain.......nearly two miles out by car!

A car's mileometer can be horrifically out and can vary greatly between cars, tyre pressures, poor instruments, new alloys can be responsible. But some cars are woefully inaccurate anyway. Dare I say could the car be converted to Kilometres, that would be far more believable?

Even if you were running 7 miles in 48 minutes, unweighted in an uphill run whilst 35 Lbs overweight I'd struggle with your figure.

You are obviously very fit just to be able to run 50 minutes weighted down with ankle weights and a 20 pound vest, but the only way to tell what distance you are running is to go to the track and do your 32 laps. My guess is that you'll be closer to the 6-7 miles in 50 minutes on the flat, which would equate to you running probably just under 6 miles in that time uphill.

Give it a shot, you obviously like training hard. You might be quite suprised at the result, or just see how many laps you can do in 50 minutes. Oh and have someone else time you, its very easy to lose count of laps!! Ha ha

            Best of luck!!

i run 8.5m on sunday in 49.53. This works out to be about 5.52/mile. However if i were to run a flat 3 mile run i find that i cannot alter my pace all that much- maybe 10 secs/mile quicker. I am very good at the longer distances but i am crap over the shorter faster stuff

Hi Painless, another frightening figure! Are you local elite or a competition runner? Your stat per mile puts you not far off the level of our elite 10k (6.25 miles) runners who take part in the Island games.

How do you measure the distance of your run? Track athlete?

                    or

                    sprints and interval training?

can someone please hook me up with some real advice and evidence!

                    cheers bros!
mainly hardwork and drinking lots of water. People dehydrate themselves to lose weight when water is a natural fat burner, its ****** really. Jump rope for 10-15 minutes a day and watch what happens...................Rockin'

Well if Samoram really is running 8 miles up hill in 48 mins whilst 35 pounds overweight!!! Then skipping 10-15 mins a day would be nothing to him.

Great advice on water though Rockin!!
