What is TRULY better for burning body fat?

What is TRULY better for burning body fat?

I hear different thing form different people.

Long runs like 8 miles in 50 minutes?

    or

    sprints and interval training?

I've heard that long runs are usually better for solely burning fat, while short interval sprints are better for your boxing cardio.

P.S. Running 8 miles in 50 minutes is much harder than you think. That's a little over 6 minutes a mile, for 8 miles. That's probably loads harder than doing interval training.

i heard it is good to train first the muscles and then after that go running, then you can burn fat very simply, just heard it, never tried it before

It's better to train yes because the body takes about 16 minutes of continous training before getting into the fat burning mode. The reason why people train after jogging is to impove your fighting endurance.Jogging burns muscle a lot rather than fat that's why those long distance runners look like cows while sprinters are well built.

Possibly it could be an individual thing,I personally seem to benefit from sprints. My 6 pack comes quickly that way and I maintain muscle.

what type of sprint workout do you do? Just curious because I wanted to do spring one day then jogging the next.

im near a mile every 6 minutes when i go running (not jogging) and run about 8 miles, its pretty intense, you think that would be ok for fat burning without eating away my muscle?
i do strength conditioning and have a high proteen low carb diet

Can you honestly do eight measured miles in 50 mins? On track? What size and weight are you? Hell, if you can do that and still have body fat to lose I'm suprised. Believe me, having the ability to run 1 mile in six minutes does not indicate that you can run 8 miles in 50, big jump! On the 1 mile running thread I'm struggling to get down to three miles in a measured road run in 6 mins per mile.......and I'm a keen runner.

I cant think of anyone with that sort of fitness who doesn't have a six pack. I do eight miles around 53 minutes and shaving 3 minutes off this would take me months of specific training.....wow!

Anyway, back to your question I'd say that long distance running at a fast pace burns more body fat and weight than sprints. In other words, it would take a shed load of 100 metre sprints to equal the fat burning potential of an hour's straight running.

However, doing interval training such as 12 fast reps of 400 metre intervals (ie 4,800 metres) with 2 minute breaks between each rep will burn more fat than running 4,800 metres straight. This is because your heart rate will likely be higher during the reps and your fast twitch muscle fibres will also be getting a fair workout too.

well i box and run, i live clean just eat too much, im about 35 pounds away from a 6 pack, but what i do is run with a 20lb vest on and heavy ankle and wrist weights (like 30lb altogeather, and the run is all up hill) i do this twice a week (do about 8 miles in an hour), then once a week i take it all off and I'm able to do 8 miles in about 50 minutes.

Long runs are better for maintaining low body fat and losing weight, sprints and intervals are better for your actual boxing fitness
