Some things are banned that shouldn't be banned. I don't believe there is anything in Saunders's over the counter nasal spray that would give him an unfair advantage in speed, strength, punching power or stamina. He had a head cold so he used some nasal spray for it. End of story. He didn't cheat or attempt to cheat and should receive no punishment and should be allowed to fight. Canelo knew the risk of eating Mexican meat and should have been more careful if he made an honest mistake. His punishment was justified because nobody can know if he just made an honest mistake or cheated on purpose. But over the counter nasal spray???? Come on FFS.

No I don't find it strange.

If anyone tested positive who wasn't using PEDs I think the first thing you'd do is try to figure out if anything you take has something on the banned substance list. The banned substance list is broader & more random then most people think, this allergy medicine I take sometimes has an ingredient thats on the banned substance list & all those f#cking pills do to me is make me tired/sleepy often if I take 2 (as suggested) instead of one (which I tend to do) so I'd have never thought it'd be something on that list, although fair play I'm not a pro athlete who should be mindful of everything I'm taking either so there's that angle too.

That said its also the first thing one would do if they WERE using PEDs, but that doesn't mean it should be considered strange outright since I think it'd be normal & not strange even if a person is innocent.

Actually in this specific case it seems like thats what happened.

From my understanding of this situation BJS was taking something that was deemed usable by the UK testing entity out of competition, which is who is usually testing him.

This time he was getting tested by VADA & VADA has different rules &/or a different protocol with dealing with this out of competition situations apparently. I can't blame BJS for assuming if something is ruled okay with one testing facility it'd be okay with all of them.

And not so randomly VADA always seem to report first & ask questions later which is throwing bad news on a fighter or a specific fight which is bad PR for boxing. Dig Margaret Goodman, but she's a f#ckhead with how she operates VADA if you ask me.

You need to be asking why Pacquaio and Mayweather head and facial bones widen and seemed to become much denser even though they were adults who stop growing . Add Holyfield to that list as well

Of course most would know. Plausible deniability is the game

              "nasal spray!"

like...if I took a VADA test and pissed dirty for a PED I'd be stumped to how it got in my system. So either these guys knew the ingredient was in their food/medicine or they were taking the drug with that excuse in their back pocket.

              thoughts?

In life people only come up with good excuses when they need to.

Nobody cares what boxers do dude.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you but obviously there is year round testing available and many fighters are signed up for it. This thing with Saunders only supports my view that if you are not signed up for VADA's CBP, you might be cheating. VADA catches cheats, I do not know of another program that is even nearly as successful.

And every top fighter knows they are getting tested pre fight. They only get caught when there plan to beat the testers malfunctions.

Contaminated beef and nasal decongestion spray my ass. These guys knew what they were taking. It's like saying I took it but I didn't take it to cheat. It's plain ole bullshit man. They were taking it in order to gain an unfair advantage over their opponents. THE FAKE MUTHAS!
