Pulev just UD'd Kevin Johnson in a stay busy WBA ranker, but really did absolutely nothing the whole fight.

AJ blitzed Johnson out in round 2.

How on earth the former can be named as competitive against their champion on that basis is beyond me, but hey.. that's the IBF.

What people are getting at is the IBF need to see some sense and realise they stay just as relevant by letting AJ defend his belt in unifications or a defense of WBA to ortiz ordered by that org, than they do by enforcing absolute bums from their own rankings.

Their current HW rankings are atrocious. At least this means that the WBC might get rid of Pulev for fighting in an IBF fight and Whyte can move up their rankings.

Since losing to Klitschko here's what Pulev has done to earn a mandatory title shot:

L to Klitschko in Nov. 2014

Oct. 2015 Wu8 to George Arias (41yrs, 56-13 record, had lost 2 of his last 3 + has lost his 2 fights since Pulev)
          Dec. 2015 KO1 to Maurice Harris (39yrs, 26-20-3 record, 1-5-1 in his last 7 + hasn't fought since)

May 2016 Ws12 to Derreck Chisora (32yrs, 25-5 record, 5 fight win streak, best opponent since Klitschko)
Dec. 2016 KO3 to Sam Peter (36yrs, 36-5 record, 2-2 in last 4, 2 fights vs bs opponents in the last 5.5yrs + hasn't fought since

Apr. 2017 Wu12 to Kevin Johnson (37yrs, 30-7-1 record, 1-4 in last 5, the one recent W was over a guy with a losing record)

So what exactly gets Pulev a deserved mandatory title shot here? The split decision win over Chisora who might be the 4th best HW in the UK?

This sh^t is getting ******er by the day with the IBF trying to force the dumbest f#cking fights.

It's not any worse than the WBC having Stiverne as no.1 contender. He's fought once since losing his belt and that fight was against Rossy in 2015, a 10 rounder which he won by UD and he's somehow no.1 contender.

During the months that Hearn was working with Ortiz and did nothing worthwhile with him (which isn't 100% his fault as Miller ducked the fight) he should've tried to make Ortiz-Pulev. Boxing is a business and sometimes fans are unrealistic in what fights can be made, but in this instance you stick that on a Joshua undercard, the main event makes so much that you can afford to overpay for an undercard bout that will help build up the winner's UK rep a bit before he faces AJ.

It feels like it will be Pulev getting the shot before Ortiz. Hopefully not. The WBA are all about those sanctioning fees so seem less likely to strip Joshua.

Hes there because a.) he ( Stiverne) was its champion once b.) a cheater named Pedvetkin failing VADA for like the 1000 time leading up to the eliminator vs. Bermane and c.) Don King would sue the WBC for breach of contract.

No wonder Deontay named his title 'Sophia' because shes pure and cherished,,,you know something special.
That belts as much of a bauble as the rest of them now and you know it. It's prestige is based on how many people give a **** about seeing it defended by its champion which going by its last few fights have been....... not alot at all.

A lineage means only as much as who its fought over by, and when it isnt being fought over by anyone in its own top 5/10 on a regular basis, that currently stands it at diddly ****.

Sophia means wisdom... i.e DW has the wisdom to know not to risk losing his belt against a challenger who wont give him megabucks to cash out on.

I think Hearn will want Wilder or Parker to fight Bellew first to make the Joshua fight bigger. Bellew wont fight Joshua, too much respect between them. Whichever fights Bellew youll know will be fighting Joshua soon.

People are killing the IBF for having a legit HW in Pulev atop their rankings while shot Stiverne is #1 for the WBC and the WBA has Oquendo, Briggs and Ustinov all getting title shots and the WBO has Razvan ****ing Cojanu high enough in their rankings to get picked for a title fight...
