To be honest if AJ only plans to fight twice a year it has to be meaningful fights. Pulev wouldn't be great to end the year although I wouldn't mind if he Vacates and defends WBA mandatory against Ortiz.

Next year if possible the 2 fights has to be Fury and Wilder.

Sounds like a fine fight to me. Pulev is right next to Ortiz/Parker/etc on every list I know of. I imagine the same guys lamenting him as a bum are the ones who think the division has "suddenly come alive" -- ie casual fans who only follow a division when a guy from their country is being pumped on TV.



This would barely even make sense if it were an American vs a Russian, but it's a UK-born Nigerian vs a Bulgarian (Bulgaria never had a hammer & sickle). The stereotypes don't even apply for the sake of satire.

I don't mind the fight when you consider the fights we want to see are very unlikely to take place in November.

Lets assume the Wlad rematch isn't happening. In the UK in November time it would need to be an indoor show, i think the Wilder fight could be bigger than an indoor arena and it won't be that soon anyway. Parker will probably fight Bellew. Fury fight won't be until next year if it ever happens and also at Wembley.

Who's really the next best options when you consider the above? Probably Pulev and Ortiz, who just happen to be his 2 mandatories. I'd much prefer the Ortiz fight but i don't see it happening. Hearn hasn't even mentioned his name despite him being mandatory, but he's mentioned Pulev being mandatory a lot. Ortiz hasn't looked great recently but i still think everyone knows he could be dangerous and not worth taking the chance, too high risk-low reward.

So it's either a Wlad rematch or Pulev in my opinion. I don't really see what other options there is for October/November
