Will Canelo's Style Sink Him Against GGG?

I think it will. Firstly because whenever Canelo throws his shots he likes to plant his feet and fire away. This has worked good for him because no one has been able to really hurt him in the lower weight classes and he has held a good speed advantage when it comes to throwing his combinations. GGG is easily going to be the hardest puncher he's faced and is a guy that prefers to fight at a middle distance where he is the taller rangier fighter and chooses not to smother his own punches like the other punchers that Alvarez has fought.

Canelo does have good head movement though so I think he will be able to avoid the jab at times. Not always though. I think GGG eventually gets Canelo to use so much energy moving around and trying to slip shots so much more than he's use to that he begins to start landing his jab often. A gassed out Canelo is a siting duck for Golovkin because he lands his shots more often than not.

I think Canelo is good enough that he can maybe make it the distance which is better than most of GGG's opponents. For Canelo to win though he better hope that he can make Golovkin second guess taking his power.

Precisely how many of Canelo's previous top opponents were "shifting"?

The worst match-up for Canelo is someone who is much rangier than him who will hang on the outside. Golovkin is not a guy who hangs out on the outside and doesn't really out range Canelo anyway.

Canelo should be able to use his boxing ability just fine because he won't have to chase around Golovkin

GGG has never fought anyone like Canelo for real, I don't say he cannot beat Canelo, I say we don't know if he can still be dominantly powerful against an elite level fighter like Canelo.

            Now about the scorecards:
In 6 of these fights, all the judges saw GGG losing no rounds...
In 2 of these fights, only one judge saw GGG losing 1 round...
In 3 of these fights, there were 2 judges who saw GGG losing 1 round...

Therefore: by 'majority decision', GGG lost 3 rounds (out of 62 in the ring) in 11 fights...

            That's a great track record.

That's a great point. I wish more fighters did use the technique. It's hard to get it down right, but it's so effective. I figure GGG will up his game so much for Canelo that the Mexican will have virtually no chance.

No, man: GGG would beat Canelo to the jab as well...
Compubox has Golovkin #1 as for the jabs landed...

                  Canelo isn't fighting Golovkin.

I personally think if Pacquiao was a legit 160 pounder then he'd be the best style match up for golovkin

I respectfully disagree. I think Golovkin will do whatever to control the distance and be careful before he forms an attack...even if that means chillin' on the outside for a few rounds. Canelo's skill will only get so far before GGG negates all that BS he'll try to do.
