If Canelo wants to fight at that weight...fine. Let's just hope he gets stripped of his belt by the WBC. I don't understand why he doesn't move up in weight? Everyone says he looks drained going into fights and his stamina has been a question, especially in the Lara fight.

I get that he loads up on his punches, but 45 punches a round is insufficient to keep winning decisions and then be recognized as some great champion. I feel like if he didn't keep forcing himself to drop to 155 he maybe would have more energy to throw more punches in his fights, but then again what do I know?

You just solved the problem chief. This would be such an easy step for all of the sanctioning bodies to take, and the WBC could gain some legitimacy by leading the way.

doesnt solve it 100% bc the money will always talk..sactioning bodies tell us they have no control over contracted weights..if they get to involved fighters will dump their titles

Team GGG is ****** if they do submit to the catchweight when they don't need to. These "A-Side" demands only happen because the "B-Side" is thirsty enough to put up with the bull****.
I agree, he shouldn't move down because as a rule, there can be no catchweights for a mandatory WBC defense. But as a character statement, I think GGG would move to 155 just to get Canelo in the ring with him.

Canelo is the MW Champ now and I support his stand just like I did for Cotto.

If GGG wants him, then make his demands.

May be not 155 but 158 will do...

Don't see why is doesn't. Catch weight fights can still go on and the belts gain more meaning. They don't have to get anymore involved other than to enforce the mandatories, and this ads legitimacy to their titles. Don't sell yourself short!

If you're comfortable fighting at 155 then by all means weigh in at 155. Just don't restrict your opponents from weighing in up to 160.
