we might not ever see cotto again in the ring... the dude has 50 million in the bank.. I can see him never coming back

Ward won't be viable in 2017 after kovolev beheads him next fall

roc nation will not be around in 2018, or at least in boxing..

RN more than likely took a huge loss on the Cotto deal, they were probably banking on a Canelo rematch, Floyd rematch or a showdown with Triple G.
Out of the gate, all of the contracts seemed too much to pay. They definitely needed a Cotto vs. Mayweather rematch, Cotto vs. GGG, or Cotto vs. Canelo rematch to cover their asses on their three fight deal with Cotto.

It's all seemed like they jumped on the Al Haymon business plan. Pay out large sums of money and hope to catch the advertising dollars. In Roc Nations case, they're trying to catch an arrangement with HBO. But their purse bid on Quillin vs. Korobov let us all know that their plan was to buy their way into the sport.

There's a huge problem with PBC and Roc Nation's theory though. Boxing is about the purest free market, where money makes everything happen and the fans know when they're being sold a **** sandwich and walk away. PBC's viewership numbers are steadily declining. Roc Nation is gonna find out that there isn't a single fight out there that can recoup the money that they gave Cotto at the tail end of his deal.

The Rigo situation is about as ****ty as it gets for them. At 35, he can't take the Mayweather route and be the bad guy. As soon as Rigo wins a belt, he's back to square one with no opponents. Everyone can just simply chase after another belt. At least Mayweather had the luxury of moving up in weight to chase big fights, and at 35, Rigo is built into his frame.

Roc Nations biggest mistake so far has been the botched deal to bring Andrade over. I have no clue what transpired since I wasn't there, but it would seem that their handling of that deal was pretty amateur. Andrade was the young championship level fighter that they needed in their stable. Age and size are on his side, and he could have given Roc Nation a marketable face for a while. Tanking that deal was one of their biggest flaws to date.

I wish them the best in the business as I have since the get go, but it doesn't look too good for them going forward.

Puerto Rican fans will move to Verdejo from Cotto as quick as they moved to Cotto from Trinidad.

Hell, Uncle Bob can have Verdejo in a championship fight by late spring 2016 with Crolla. The WBA currently has Verdejo ranked at #4 and his fight on 12/11 will only push him higher.

I definitely don't think this $10M to Rigo deal is legit. I think promoters can only sign guys for 3 years or something like that according to the MAA. There is no way Rigo is getting $3.3M a year or I should say there is no way he's being guaranteed $3.3M a year I promise you that. Maybe if a bunch of **** goes well he has the potential to get $10M total at best, but with the reality of what he can do at 122 or 126 that seems very rose colored glasses-ish.
The Cotto deal was for $50M, purses thus far $10M and $15M. It is a co promotion deal, so he most likely gets a bigger cut from the revenue. RN must have been banking on getting 2 mega fights, but they only got 1.

Ward from what I have read is guaranteed $2M a fight, RN paid a large amount to buy his contract.

I'm not sure what the Rigo deal is.

I just don't see how RN will make money.

Rigo and Ward are top 5 P4P talent, they'll be around for a while and have big fights with Loma and Kovalev in the horizon. Cotto can drop down to 154 and grab a title, possibly have a fun fight against Bradley in New York. They're doing fine, that's not including their young talent they have.

Their first mistake was making the three biggest divas in the sport, the face of their boxing brand. Never mind grossly overpaying for them.

I reckon Cotto can still make them money until they find other fighters. Cotto would have to be one of the smartest boxers on the planet, considering he was pretty much finished after Pac KO'd him and to continue on and do successful business for many years whilst winning titles against compromised opposition is nothing short of amazing...whilst only fighting A grade competition if it really paid exorbitantly. Seriously. The guys a genius (from a business side)

Hopefully they cut their losses and leave the boxing world.

Cotto is on his way out, Ward and Rigo aren't exactly must see TV, and most boxing fans sit to watch fights, not crappy concerts.
