Canelo was only landing 2-3 good shots a round while Cotto was peppering him with combinations all night.

If this fight was scored the way Mayweather fights are scored then Cotto would have won, but those cards were mailed in before the bell even rang.
"peppering" him? Watch it again, Canelo's D was on point . Many, many of those "sick" combos were blocked.

About the size, it is what it is. That doesn't change the score of a fight.

To be fair, too wide at first sight. Cotto didn't lose any honor. He was smaller, substantially

Without controversy, no rematch. No rematch, no business.

You know that it is going to be the same story every time Canelo steps in the ring; he will have to be thoroughly outboxed (good enough for a majority decision win) or knocked out.
Watch the fight again. Only one score card was out of line. Canelo won 8-4. Cotto's jab was missing the target, his power punches had no effect on Canelo, and Canelo's punches had effect on Cotto.

Cotto wasn't outboxing Canelo, and he surre as hell wasn't winning the war. At the most you could give Cotto 5 rounds, but i thought he won 4.

I love it how these guys always start tip toeing and dancing around late in the fight, and then when it doesn't go their way, they walk out as if a big tragedy happened.

Cotto was not outboxing Canelo by any stretch. Yes he was throwing and perhaps landing (though canelo's face doesn't show it) some good punches, but if he really wanted to make sure the fight was won, he should've started to pressure Canelo instead, and dig down to the body more.

Hell, even Floyd did a piss poor job ouboxing Canelo for the first 7 rounds. Canelo knows how to pot shot and evade punches, and step back just when he feels you're about to throw. Pretty much like Floyd on a slightly lower level.

And yes, it's a shame that the judges messed it up by making their scoring the story, instead of the fight itself. I wish somebody had gotten hurt in this one, so there was a conclusive winner.

The size and canelos uppercuts were what did cotto in. Canelo was just too big for him.

fight wasnt close and I'm not partial to either guy.

Now that we are past the Match, Canelo winning is good for boxing however sense he is willing to fight Golovkin and Cotto did everything he could to avoid such a fight.

Canelo clearly won, I expected more from Cotto.

Canelo definitely deserved the win. I thought the scorecards were too wide however, and Cotto should have be given a bit more credit.

Either way no fighter got embarrassed so it's safe to say the rematch will be built for May 5th 2016.
