Both fighters to blame. You can't pin this solely on Floyd.

I doubt many people are ever buying a ppv again lol. The build up and anticipation was real but the action wasn't there.

If Floyd made it an action fight boxing would be on top of the world right now. Instead he gave a master class exhibition of the sweet science few casuals would understand.

The PPV model has been a rip off for years ..Good to see boxing going backs yo national TV maybe super fights will end up like Super Bowls as opposed to debacles like what just happened last night .

This fight came too soon after the anniversary of Hagler - Hearns and casuals were expecting the same level of action after watching all the vids of that fight which were posted everywhere.

What they got was what real fans expected, a typical Mayweather PPV fight. It was what it was and I did not expect anything different.

Nearly everyone wanted Pacquiao to win & he didn't win. People be mad. Thats how things work sometimes in boxing.

Anyone saying Mayweather ran a marathon or things like that musta missed the fight or be delusional. I thought Mayweather stood in front of Pacquiao for huge portions of the fight. Pacquiao just didn't really do anything. Like nearly everyone before him (save for Maidana & Castillo) he was mesmerized by Floyd or fearful of being countered or something.

On nights like this when there are often people complaining I feel like they just don't understand or know the rules of the sport. You don't get extra points for engaging in a telephone booth battle. You don't get extra points for how many times you get hit & can still hit the other guy. Its a hit & get hit business. Mayweather hit his opponent nearly twice as many times as he got hit. Thats boxing.

If you didn't like this fight, maybe you just don't like boxing. Being upset about a guy winning cuz he didn't fight your preferred way is like being mad a baseball team didn't win with a homer in the 9th inning in the world series or a football team didn't win the superbowl by a hail mary pass. Its just some silly irrational ****.

I had 7 guys over for a poker game and the fight. I'm talking +55 year olds. When the fight started one guy asked "how long are the rounds". I nearly threw his butt out the door.

The casuals I was watching with mostly rooted for Manny and after the fight left in disgust saying how boring it was. It will be a long time, if ever, before a fight has a Super Bowl party type event held for them. Me, I still enjoyed it. I thought Floyd was masterful. I wish he would go for the kill but if he did he probably wouldn't be boxing still. I don't think Floyd is the GOAT but he's the smartest OAT and the greatest of all time of his generation. Oh oh, can my rep drop any further?

That was always a risk with this one.

When any event is hyped to this magnitude it no longer becomes about the event itself. Rather, it evolves into a self important ego trip. How many of those in the arena were multi millionaire socialites with no interest in boxing but who just had to be seen at the 'Fight of the Century'? 'Stars of stage and screen' who hadn't been to a boxing event in decades but desperately wanted to add to the 'Superfights' that they'd attended like school kids collecting baseball cards for peer kudos. ". . And now as part of our Cinco de Mayo celebrations please stand for the Mexican national anthem . . . " Why? So lip service can be paid to a representative section of boxing fans that have been priced out of the event?

Hype, like a lie, only has force when people are willing to believe it. And people wanted to believe in this one so they could stand around the water cooler and regurgitate what they'd read online as if they knew what they were talking about. So they could give their opinions. Tell people where they were watching the fight. Express what they felt about it. How they thought it would go down. Give their predictions. So they could say that they were a part of this social event. That they might not particulary care about boxing but by God they're far too important not to be a part of an event of this magnitude.

So they believed. They dismissed their critical thinking. The biggest fight in boxing history! "It must be right, 'cause isn't that what we're being told to pay all that money for?" If it's expensive it must be special and aren't we all special so we can't spare any expense to be a part of this one. . . They didn't stop to think what actually makes this bout special. "Isn't it because it hadn't already happened? And if it didn't happen now then it wouldn't happen at all?"

A fight 6 years distanced from any semblance of being a genuinely great sporting event. Two past prime fighters cashing out. What did anyone really expect from a 36 year old man fighting a man of 38? An explosive dynamic action packed encounter? They allowed themselves to believe it was one way when a few simple questions would have shown them that it was another. They didn't want to ask 'cause they were too busy wanting to believe that this was special and being a part of it made them special to.

And now? Well, they may feel a little used. Manipulated. Lied to. Distracted with a fairy tale of Good verses Evil whilst their pockets where being rifled. So? . . . So now they know a little bit more about the sorid business end of this little sport of ours. Welcome to Boxing. Do come back soon . . . . we know you will.

I wonder how much boxing Mayweather fans have actually watched if they think that what he did could be considered a "legendary performance."

The legacy of this 'fight' will be how much of a grossly overhyped, underwhelming event it was. One guy that couldn't vs a guy that wouldn't.
