Marquez can still make four times his usual purse with a pac rematch but he wants to keep that feeling. Soon he will retire and in a few years will wish he still had that opportunity for one last big payday.
5 in total: marquez vs barerra, marquez vs casamayor, marquez vs fedchenko, marquez vs bradley, marquez vs diaz 2 , thats a considerable amount of ppvs, now whos marquez again? Do you even watch boxing?

Had he become a Free Agent like Miguel Cotto, Pacquaio could literally pick and choose who he fights. He would have more options than Mayweather, instead of much less options. He could bounce between Top Rank and Golden Boy like Cotto has the freedom to. Cotto can fight Mayweather, GGG, Canelo, or even Pacquaio next if he chooses (although because of Roach, Pacquaio fight won't happen). Whereas, Mayweather won't work with Top Rank, so he's limited to one stable. But at least the stable he's limited to has many stars.
Here a good article about re-signing with TR. Not only the re-signing, but it gives perspective on the Mayweather vs. Arum feud:

Yahoo Sports has spoken to the principals, as well as some neutral parties, to try to not only understand what is preventing the fight from happening but to assess the likelihood of the impasse being broken...

Top Rank promoted Oscar De La Hoya throughout Mayweather's Top Rank tenure, and had built De La Hoya into the biggest attraction in the sport by tapping into the Hispanic fan base. Arum wanted Mayweather to fight Antonio Margarito, one of the Hispanic stars of his stable, to follow that trend. Mayweather stubbornly resisted and insisted he go in a different direction.

Ultimately, Mayweather bought his way out of the contract with Arum and struck out on his own, a move that clearly worked and made him rich and successful beyond his wildest dreams.

Since Mayweather left Top Rank ?which Arum conceded was a wise move for him ?he's often repeated the mantra that he wanted to be his own boss.

Leonard Ellerbe, the CEO of Mayweather Promotions, said making a bout with Pacquiao is difficult because Mayweather as the A side and the biggest star would dictate terms. He said Arum wasn't used to being dictated to and would not agree to a deal in which Pacquiao would have to accede to all of Mayweather's wishes...

Marvelous Marvin Hagler did so in 1987 in order to make a bout with Sugar Ray Leonard. And Mayweather gave De La Hoya all the negotiating advantages for their May 5, 2007 fight ?De La Hoya earning $23.3 million guaranteed plus upside from the pay-per-view; Mayweather was guaranteed $10 million plus upside ?because De La Hoya was then the A side...

Arum said that in retrospect, Mayweather was right about the way he should have been promoted when he was with Top Rank...

Surprisingly though, Arum conceded Tuesday that Mayweather was correct about how he should have been marketed by Top Rank. Arum said he believes Top Rank did an excellent job building Mayweather, but said he'd have been more successful had Top Rank paid closer heed to Mayweather's ideas...

"Absolutely he did [make the right move going on his own]," Arum said. "Why? He realized something we didn't realize. He kept telling us we were promoting him wrong, and we should make an effort, a big effort, to promote him in the urban community. I as an old guy remembered the urban community from the days of promoting Muhammad Ali, and it is a totally different community now than it was then during the Ali days...

He meant that we should have promoted him to the young black people in the music community and those in the urban market place. He was completely right. If he'd have stayed with us, maybe we would have gotten it. Maybe. Maybe. But to a certain extent, he's been better off on his own doing what he's done, and I have no hard feelings..."

"This is like a tactic," Arum told Woods. "I'm not equating the politics, [but] it's like [Adolf] Hitler. Before the second World War, 'Give me Czechoslovakia, there'll be peace,' and this and that. And [prime minster Neville] Chamberlain [of the U.K.] kept appeasing, kept appeasing. Was there ever going to be peace? No. No. It's not going to get anybody closer to that fight..."

Oscar exposed Floyd in the ring, now he exposed him in the business world. Oscar is a Gold Medal winner who fought the best. Floyd is a Bronze Medal loser who ducked the rest. Golden Boy Promotions forever, Bronze Boy Promotions NEVER!

          Not about Richard

The headlines for this story made it sound as if it was about Schaffer when after about 10 paragraphs there was ONE quote from the guy. This is some TMZ-STYLE ****.

            As he should be.

I would stay away from any business venture with Mayweather if I were Schaefer. You do it only when he's still fighting. But when he retires Schaefer would be better off collaborating with Haymon.

Its just that simple. Its all starting to go wrong and there is almost a new embarrassment daily to come out of his 'camp'. Its hilarious watching you all still trying to defend this arsehole even though he is smearing crap all over you and making you look like ****s.

All Floyd asked for was parity with the money and OST and was even willing to cut it off at 14 days before the fight while Roid asked for:
                1-Ring size
                2-10 million per pound over
                3-gloves
                4-parity
                5-and no OST
and when did personality make you a great fighter? How is it going wrong when Floyd is guaranteed 32 million per fight plus PPV? The great Ray Robinson's children say he wasn't a good father, Duran spit on Ray Leonard's wife while promoting their fight, Pacquioa cheated on his wife and has an outside baby, Pete Rose bet on games, Michael Jordan seems to be a selfish MFer but what does that have to do what their skill sets? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!! This is boxing a brutal sport if your looking for a poster boy I suggest you follow tennis.

That was some 20 years ago. So what about now. I assume you agree that Pacquiao has to join TMT first before the fight happens. Right? Let us know what you think TODAY. What needs to happen? He calls himself Money. This is still a HUGE money fight no matter what. Why do you think this is not happening? What's the excuses now?

Floyd made it clear to Ellerbe that he likes his tea with lemon and 3 sugars. Ellerbe forgot the lemon so he is out
