Try Ray Leonard embarrassing Roberto Duran. You think it's impressive to overcome a size disadvantage? Try Roberto Duran doing it at middleweight. You think it's impressive to win 45 fights in a row? Try 80+.
Do you think Michael Jordan is the greatest BBall player ever?
    Why?

    Russell won more rings right?
Dr. J carried the sport on his back
Majic went to 9 finals and won 5

Why is jordan better than them?
The era Jordan played in was not considered better than Russell's.

They don't rate based on just resume...... they base it off pure talent.
Jordan went against Drexler, barkley etc...........russell went against Wilt Chamberlin. Uh enough said.

But Jordan is still ranked as the best.

They would have knocked them out. Floyd has it all, but killer instinct. Emanuel Steward once said that if guys like Ray and Tommy had you outgunned, or overmatched, they went in for the kill. For Hopkins to say that Floyd is better than Hagler, Hearns, and Leonard shows me he has simply forgot. Nothing more. Its the same way people say that Lebron is better than Jordan. They just forgot. Once a fighter retires and the new guys come in, its just natural to forget how great the old guys were in their day and the new guy is fresh on your mind. Floyd, in my honest opinion falls in the category of Wilfred Benitez, Pernell Whitaker, Aaron Pryor, Manny Paquiao, and maybe Roy Jones ,Jr. All great fighters and hall of famers. But to me, Leonard, Duran, Ali, Hagler, Louis, and Robinson are a level above. Those guys were the event. Those guys made you feel like it was worth every penny you spent after the fight. (Even though there wasn't ppv for some of them) They closed the show.Guys like Floyd, Roy, and Whitaker were just happy with the points victory.

I don't think Floyd could beat Leoanard, Hearns or Hagler either. I don't think he would have went to 147 in that era. I seriously question if Floyd would have beaten Terry Norris, Aaron Pryor, and Julio Cesar Chavez, sr. As great as Floyd is, ask yourself, is he truly beating the best guys available or is he beating the more marketable fighters??? The only opponent Floyd has beat in the last 4 years to put him CLOSE to the all time greats is Cotto. Does a victory over Guerrero, Ortiz, Alverez, and a smaller Marquez make you an all time great??? He should have fought Manny, who was considered the best at the time, to be put in that conversation. He needs to fight Martinez, Lara, Broner, or Bradley to be put in that conversation with the best fighters ever. Not saying those guys win, but at least they would make him dig deep and then we can truly see if he has greatness in him. Beating overly matched opponents does not make you great, just rich in this day and time.
One simple question , what happens if they cannot land on Floyd ?

Jordan won against better competition, that's why he is ranked better than Russell. Dr. J isn't in the conversation at all because he wasn't a winner on the level the greatest were. Magic is considered the GOAT by some. That's like a Sugar Ray Robinson/Harry Greb/Henry Armstrong debate for the NBA. Jordan being considered GOAT has everything to do with accomplishments. He was a tremendous winner with tremendous performances against great competition.

Mayweather Jr is Top 10-15 without a doubt. What hes doing at 37 years old was simply amazing. He shut the kid out. You look at the body of work, the dominance, the skills. Hes the total package and a true joy to watch. Amazing fighter. People wont realize how skilled he was until hes long retired and in his 50's.

How can you say it was better comp in Jordans era?
The legends before Jordan would disagree.

Jordan is the best ever based off the talent.

All the other legends have rings,Mvp's,scoring titles,etc.......
It is Jordans talent and skill that separated him from the rest.

You don't think Russell or Wilt could have dominated in Jordans's era.

I actually agree with this..mayweather doesn't get enough credit for all he's done in the sport..alot of people don't and people believe the old guys are untouchable.. but mayweathers on there level and I used to watch these guys I'm a big fan of haggler and Leonard grew up watching them..people can talk trash about mayweather but he really is that good..I give him his credit and I've been a huge fan of the sport since I was ten years old..probably one of the biggest fans on these forums..

Russell and Wilt had each other. That's it. Smaller league, teams packed with HOFers, Russell was great but his era plays against him in this conversation.

Jordan has the best combination of rings, MVPs, scoring titles, the best scoring average in playoff history, the most Finals MVPs, the signature games and winning shots, I could go on and on and on. Jordan is considered the GOAT because of what he accomplished, not just his talent.

They act like if Floyd fought Hagler or Duran, he would get destroyed.

If Floyd can use great head and feet movement, defense, speed, great chin etc against this era, then he could do it against other eras.

He would be hard to beat in any era.

I thought SRL and Duran were better than Floyd because they fought better fighters, and most think they could beat Floyd as well?

So Floyd isn't better than them based on beating Canelo who wasn't p4p top 10. All Floyd can do is beat the rest out there, Sergio, Khan, Garcia and lets say Bradley shall we and that's it.
                      Then let him be judged.
