Lets put it in perspective.

Whenever someone says he wants to fight the best but ends up fighting a unkown midget from middle earth and then Jumps up two weight classes to avoid, few of the best at his weight class (vasquez, abril) then jumps a weight class filled with talent which his promotional comapny he with owns to skip over that weight class and fight the lightest puncher, who just got beat in his fight before by a journeyman, paper champ.

it's an attempted cherry-pick on the part of his handlers, based on their estimation of Broner's talent level and of Malignaggi's fadedness. i love Paul, so i hope it's a miscalculation.

i enjoy watching Broner, i've nothing really against him other than he's taking the attention-grabbing too far at times and could do with going on a charm offensive, but Paulie is my guy. so i have to hope.

Definitely a cherry pick. Broner is naturally bigger than Malignaggi so him fighting at 135 has no bearing against him. Paulie is best when he's mobile and he's definitely slowing down and Broner and his team see that. I'm very upset he skipped 140 though. He knows he would get his a55 whopped there. He'll wait until they all beat each other down to move back and beat those guys. GBP is already putting all the good 140's against each other, maybe the plan is to soften out the competition and then feed them to Broner.

Khan,garcia,matthysse,peterson, are all better fights than paulie. De la hoya was the biggest fight manny could make. Mayweather is the biggest fight robert can make. Malinaggi isn't the biggest fight broner can make. Therefore it's more of a cherrypick than a step up
