I don't even hate Kirkland but I can't wait until he gets another shot on HBO and losses again so hopefully some of you fans can die out on this mythical image of Kirkland you weirdos you have painted in your heads.
He was obviously out of shape.

Anyone with a brain would look at Kirkland and see that he survived punches from Vera, Julio and Angulo. So being stopped by Ishida obvously means something was wrong.

I thought this would be common sense to most. I guess I was wrong.

It's not his fault but the system is flawed and these guys get touted as potential stars and if they fail to live up the hype they end up getting pushed through to victories like a kid getting pushed through the grades even though he or she didn't earn the passing score.

It'll take a few more robberies and public outcry for them to let him go to what he likely will end up being, a contender, nothing more. Like I said, nothing against him but he is one of those guys that will be involved in controversial scores and decisions for a year or two until he gets KO'd in a fight.
Are you talking about Canelo here or Kirkland?

Kirkland fights the best available opposition. Goes balls to the wall and gives the fans something to look forward too every time he fights.

I think only one of his fights have gone to decision.

HBO can't hype up something that rightfully deserves hype.

The fans want to see good fights. That's what Kirkland provides.

Is that not living up to potential?

Comparing Kirk to Alvarez is the only hilarious thing in your post. Kirkland is fighting top 5 JMW's every other outing. Alvarez is fighting #10 ranked WW's who haven't won a fight in 3 years.

How can you compare the two?
it wasnt the best stoppage but the kid was killing him, it was just a matter of time.

kirkland is entertaining, it kills me when people say he is an overhyped bum...
ask someone on the street who james kirkland is... lol, where is the hype?

everyone who says hes an overhyped bum was 100% sure he would lose to angulo.

The guy fights all the best available fighters and doesn't duck and dodge anyone.

How is he not acknowledged as the top guy at 154 on here?
whats a fluke tko?because what i saw sure looked like a tko to me

          he fought julio,angulo,molina.

why shouold he be acknowledged as the top guy in his division?
there are a couple guys in the division who have not suffered a lost in the past year or just coming off of a contraversial win unlike kirkland

So what? The fight was no where near over. Gomez did not land anything significant or hurt Alvarez at any point. If you have ever watched Alvarez fight before or had not have had Kirkland's balls in your face then you would be able to see that Alvarez was basically toying with Gomez. Seriously debating that Gomez could have won that fight? You are grasping at straws in that one.
Every other outing? Alex Hloros or Dennis Sharpe would be every other outing? Angulo and Molina are only 2 JMW's so stop acting like he's been beating on top opposition for years. And he lost to Molina just got a bogus DQ win given to him. Funny how you make it sound like he fought 5 Mosleys. Cintron, Gomez, Rhodes, Hatton, Ndou, and even Baldomir were coming off wins when Alvarez. Granted they were fossils but still. Stop acting like Kirkland is doing or is much better than Alvarez. Like I said before I don't like Alvarez but skillswise comparing him to Kirkland is a joke.

I don't hate him, I just think he is ridiculously overrated. Should have lost to Molina and he lost to Ishida.

Lol Ishida was a fluke? Get real. Ishida canned him. He proved to everyone what we expected and saw the entire time up until that fight. It's no surprise. He has a mediocre at best chin, and horrible defense.

oh and Ishida was not a fluke, he got humiliated and exposed ... no amount of nuthuggery or excuses will take that back

I believe I clearly mentioned Kirkland.....honestly, it sounds you are kind of hating on Canelo (irony...hint, hint)

I'd bet your account that Canelo would dominate if not stop Kirkland, that's how confident I am that Canelo is of a different caliber than James is. My gripe is not with him, sure he is a brave, tough, exciting fighter when he is in a brawl, that's great and I appreciate what he offers me as a fan.

What I dislike is the fact that the other guy across from him may outwork him, land more punches, stagger him but if they don't knock him out, they will likely lose. Is that fair, is that what the SPORT of boxing is about? I thought there was more to winning a fight than being the more marketable fighter.

Kirkland is an exciting guy so HBO wants the public to think he is the next coming of Tyson. I guarantee you that in any fight that goes to the cards, he will win unless it's against a bigger name.

Like I said, it's not Kirkland's fault but he will be involved in more questionable decisions that a lot of people will call robberies.
