Why is it that Cotto and Margarito get called warriors?

Yet, Mayweather Jr, a boxer that started at a much lower weight class then either of them doesn't.

Don't get me wrong Marg and Cotto are good fighters. However...

... I'm still waiting for the day Cotto wins a belt at middleweight, and Margarito wins a belt at super middleweight.

    SMH.

"warrior" doesn't mean winning multiple belts in multiple weight classes, it's reference is that of someone who displays tremendous heart, never backs down, takes on all challengers. A warrior. (see Erik Morales against Maidana).

Floyd doesn't get called a warrior because he's never showed that type of mentality in the ring. Granted he's never had to (which is why he's great in his own right), but he's never really had to face adversity in the ring and go toe to toe, nor has he recently been one take on all challenges (when he was younger he did).

So moving up in weight to take on someone bigger and stronger than you isn't challenging?

It's easy being a warrior when taking on people your own size, as Floyd did in the lower weights, and as Cotto and Marg, are doing now.

But I doubt they'll be acting like warriors if they moved up in weight to take on boxers who are 75% more likely going to knock them out.

      Nothing but the truth!

This is like saying: Why does Mayweather get called slick but fighters like Margs and Cotto, who throw more punches, don't?

        See, it makes no sense.

Floyd pretty much naturally grew to where he is now. There wasn't really a time I felt he was fighting at a weight class he didn't belong in (besides against Oscar) and he gradually moved up in weight and sometimes took on softer opponents first (like when he first came to 147).

Again it's not a knock on floyd at all, it's just that the term Warrior typically is used when someone shows incredible heart in the ring to overcome adversity, etc.

I can agree with a few of your points. However, please tell me where Cotto overcame adversity to win? His best win was Mosley, however, he ran during the championship rounds.

Sure it is. It just has nothing to do with being a "warrior", unless you're making up your own meaning of the word.

Maybe it's because he's not very likeable... someone who scared to fight the big fights these days , hides behind unfounded drug claims and acts like a gangster wannabe.

The guys got skills far superior than most fighters but he does not have the brave qualities or attributes of a brave fearless warrior
plus he fights within himself doesn't really finish people off ..put everything into his punches or passion into his work , you dont see him stand his ground or go toe to toe because hes slick and doesn't have that in him.
