I see Martinez as the gate holder @ 160 similar to what Hagler was, the difference is Martinez can make 154. Why go up to 168 where he would lose to those naturally much bigger guys when he can still make 154? Ward, Bute, etc would be too much for Sergio. Floyd is probably the only one that has a chance the way it looks right now. Martinez deserves a mega pay day too.

The Racket Squad: Sergio and The Floyd Void
For those who had the common sense to save 50 bucks and take advantage of HBO's best double header this year, the pleasures of the ring were dramatic.
A friend recorded the Cotto fest for me and the card was another Arum sideshow with both main event pugilists reciting, no mas.
Yuri Foreman could not contain the savage instincts of Mr. Wolak who finally had a night he could treasure because it could lead to true fiscal treasures.
Cotto, due to the unconventional antics displayed within Mayorgas final fling, had a tougher time then he should have.
The card presented nothing terribly unexpected
The live HBO broadcast showered fans of the sport with two performances that dictate what gloved events should be.
There were four fighters presented, each of whom gave the very best of themselves for much less money then the fading Miguel earned.
Sergio Martinez showed us why he is indeed the second best boxer in the pro ranks today.
HBO still includes Floyd as number two, but that is a political, ridiculous notion.
It is just as insulting as Max Kellerman calling Alvarez 'a prodigy' last week.
HBO lost Manny and heaven fobide they insult their other PPV money maker.
Mayweather just might decide to return to his trade one day. The network
wants 'Money' to know they still love him even though he disregards the sport and fans that made him wealthy and treats most human beings like crap.
It's simply sewer politics.
Martinez is an amazing athlete at 36. He is the King, second only to Manny.
Fighters fight.
The opening act was not a disappointment either.
The highly regarded Andy Lee, who was defeated by Brian Vera in a collision of wills, salvaged his entire career when opponent Craig McGowen simply ran out of gas.
Had McGowan maintained his stamina, the result would have been very different.
Freddie Roach can teach you many things, but some fighters just cannot refuel during a contest. Craig burned out and Andy, much to his credit, stayed in the game and had the remaining fortitude to earn a big win.
So now we move on to the April 9th joyride that Maidana will take Morales on.
If the Cotto card proved one thing, it is that the heavy underdog will not change his colors because we simply want to believe.
Regarding future fare, based on the degree of difficulty Cotto had with Ricardo, I forsee Margarito repeating his victory.
After Pacquiao, each man was reduced to a portion of who they were.
But that is what happens when you venture into the deepest of waters.
Williams, Pavlik, Cotto and Margaritio know this better then most who engage in this brutal racket known as the sweet science.
Nuff said.

Manny has been very exciting and impressive but who has Manny fought to become #1? He has fought big names coming off big losses but no one recently at the top of their game. Floyd fought Shane when he was #1@47/#3 P4P and Marquez when he was #2 P4P, not on their downslides. Manny is well calculated hype!!!! There is no reason he didn't fight Campbell@135, Bradley@140 or Mosley when he was top dawg@147 and now Martinez@154. GTFOHWTBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Manny is #4 in my book cause he's also been ducking a 3rd Marquez fight. If he was smart he would fight Marquez @ 140 and get out of the welter-wt division cause long as he's there he can fight Martinez @ 54 just like he fought Margarito there.

Another thing, Mayweather and Manny look like hypocrites and you fans that are defending them re hypocrites also. Do some research because you'll find out that when Mayweather fought Oscar at 154, and when Pac fought Margarito at 154, both opponents were close to 170, the same weight Martinez was last night. I think Oscar was at exactly 170 and Margarito weighed 165. Also, Martinez weighing 170 was his highest and he only did that to put on extra lbs for moving up because he's always been a 154 fighter. If you're honest with yourselves then you would admit Sergio is the new p4p king because he's beaten guys far better than the guys Pac and Mayweather has won against and thats a fact.

So that's an issue.
And then you got these posters who are being overly nuthuggish to Martinez and not taking him to task for calling out these smaller guys like Pac, Floyd, and Cotto when there are still forces to be reckoned with in the division like Pirog and Golovkin. And then you got Fernando Guerrero and Kirkland on the verge of making their bones.
Now as far as Cotto looking like a ho for not fighting Martinez, it would hold some weight if Cotto decided to go after an easy or vacant belt like he has done his whole career in the weight class Sergio is fighting in. But Pac, Floyd, and Cotto don't owe Martinez anything just like Roy said last night.
Martinez needs to fight guys who are in his own weight division. This is what Hopkins still gets bashed for when it is blown out of proportion on top of it. Berto fights scrubs regardless of how big they are, and he don't even belong in the same conversation as Martinez or Hopkins for that matter.
