In a few days, Miguel is going to look as clueless as everyone did that got in the ring with Floyd. Whatever Miguel is going to want to do in the ring, Floyd is going to take it away, almost from the first round onward.

Everybody gets on this before every Floyd fight. They all get caught up in the underdog while neglecting the fact that Floyd is probably the most talented boxer to ever enter a ring. Whatever Miguel is going to try to throw at Floyd, he will nullify. I'm glad a lot of people are finding good things about Miguel because that will make the awe of Floyd's victory that much greater. 43-0 on Saturday.
I won't be that way. For the life of me, I just can't see this as being a competitive fight.

      Same here.

Everytime Floyd fights i always think this is the one where he looses. The thing that is going around my mind at the moment is the fact that Floyd is 35, hes not been in any wars but its a precarious age to be at.

Malignaggi (obviously not as quick as Mayweather) is an exceptional boxer as well and can relate to how Floyd fights.
But here is what Paulie Malignaggi is not taking into consideration:

Paulie Malignaggi, like most boxers, fights in a rhythm. He likes to move. jab-jab right. Shuffle , slide. So when you disturb that rhythmn - ALTHOUGH PAULIE IS A GOOD PURE BOXER - you have taken Paulie out of his game. Marquez has been so successful against Pacquiao because he disturbs Pac's rhythm... he doesn't let Pac get "rolling"

Mayweather doesn't "NEED" a rhythm. In fact, Floyd REGULARLY breaks and changes his own ritmo so that his opponent doesn't pick up on it. Floyd is MORE than happy to make it an ugly and/or boring fight.

Think about the Zab Judah fight. Floyd got wailed in the nuts. A free-for-all broke out right in front of him. He then came back out like nothing happened and he took over right where he started from.

Floyd has abilities in the mental game that VERY few fighters in the history of the sport have had. It is an advantage that he brings into every fight.

Do all you saying Floyd is going to stop Cotto think about what you're going to write before typing it?

Manny Pacquiao, who's not a better fighter but he is indeed a more offensive minded and inflicts more damage to his opponents, than Mayweather couldn't stop Cotto because of cuts(ref just stopped the fight, Cotto could've finished the fight) or KO him but Mayweather is going to do it with 10 oz gloves.

Use your common sense a little bit before writing.

Exactly what I was gonna say. You can't predict Floyd's rhythm. He doesn't throw 1-2's, he throws leads. Leads, especially fast ones like Floyd's don't come from a rhythm where as Cotto has predictable rhythm, he has a drop step in his jab that Floyd will be able to telegraph after a few rounds. Floyd could throw any of his punches from any position whether he's moving or not so it's tough to gauge that rhythym.

With this notion, I can understand but he works at such a manic pace. How many boxers do you know to never damage their bodies? The thing I think that gets lost on Floyd through the hate and other things is that Floyd had the gift to be the best in his sport and never squandered it. Mike Tyson threw it away by being unfocused but he was a nutcase altogether. Roy Jones Jr. did when for years, he coasted on natural ability, he never had the technique to really fall back on. Many other sports as well. Vince Carter had everything in this arsenal to be the best, his passion or lackthereof is/was his downfall while Kobe Bryant gets up and is practicing his craft at five in the morning. Lest not forget who was organizing 2 in the morning work outs while his opponent was in bed sleeping. That person isn't Miguel Cotto, it was Floyd Mayweather. People lose sight of all of that and more.

Floyd is not the most talented fighter to ever enter the ring, that is an insult to fighters of the past. Dude's career has been substantiated by hometown fights, convenient retirements, well-timed decisions to fight certain guys, and imposing detrimental circumstances on opponents.

Sugar Ray Leonard would spank Floyd, Robinson would retire him.

                      Great post.

But I have also heard that Miguel was unfocused/drinking in previous camps, and this has GENUINELY been his best camp in years.

So I expect the best Cotto.
