Cotto is NOT Mexican..He's Boricua/Puerto Rican. Anyway, good choice given the options Mayweather had available (outside of Pac). Alvarez is a solid young champion but at 21, he is still not quite prepared for this type of challenge just yet. Cotto has name recognition as well as a loyal following esp among Hispanics so the fight will generate interest & a nice payday for both combatants..(Glad to see there was no weight issue). Cotto seemed quite focused against Margarito in their rematch so I will def'ly be watching this bout. I just hope miguel doesn't think he'll be able to outbox floyd the way he did marg b/c that will NEVER...EVER be the winning game plan.

Ortiz was Maidana's left over and Cotto is Pacquiao's left overs.

Miguel Cotto ring weight was 157lbs when he fought Corley at light-welter.

If Cotto comes in bellow 153lbs there is definitely a catchweight stip.

And I actually can't believe that people are saying if they weigh in less than 154 then there must be a catchweight.

If both camps state there isn't a catchwieght then there isn't a catchweight.

so it not really pac left-overs
He's not known for weight draining opponents but bloating them. (Hatton, JMM and Ortiz)

What do you think Cotto's ring weight is?

At 147lbs in was in the high 150s
Martinez vs Barker ... Martinez 158, Barker 159 1/2 with no catchweight of course. Just because a boxer is a little lighter than the limit division doesn't mean that there is a CW involved.

Canelo... but then people talking about how Floyd cheery picks opps that are too green(which is true, this time)

I dont agree , Cotto at the luxury of the 154 limit is more of a threat to Pac than Bradley is at 147 , Cotto today at 147 would be weight drained .

Weight came make a fighter better or worse on the night that fact should be a given , Cotto at 154 is a lot different than Cotto at 145 , he is saying himself he was drained to make 145 and Miguel dosnt come across as a dis honest guy making excuses , he is a very proud man , its dangerous when you start forcing your body down , especially at this level of boxing , it might be a pound of butter to you but to an F1 athlete on that edge its crucial .

So, why did Cotto want a catchweight against Margarito?
