Yeah but it was ruined by Clottey giving up the later rounds.

Anytime a boxer has to slam another boxer it becomes a circus act.

Cotto didn't have what it took to keep Clottey off him with boxing, so he got dirty.

Anyone who actually saw the fight knows as much.

Clottey was lighting Cotto's asss up, and Miguel did what he had to do to stay in the fight.
Come on man you gotta admit it was a good scrap.

Do you know why it wasn't?

Because once a fighter gets dirty and changes the tide of the fight, you can never tell who would have really won on boxing alone.

This isn't MMA. Its not about "scraps". Its about using ONLY the science to win. Be it a brawler or a technician, they are ONLY supposed to box.

Cotto was desperate at that point because not only had he just been thrashed by Margarito, but he needed that win over Clottey to justify a Pacquiao fight. Remember that Cotto only had a win over unknown Michael Jennings for a vacant paper title before fighting Joshua.

When fighters have to get dirty, it takes away from the sport.

Some people had no problem with Trinidad low blowing Vargas several times. Some people had NO PROBLEM with Ortiz spearing Mayweather in self-admitted attempt to break Floyd's nose. Apparently you two have no problem with Cotto bodyslamming Clottey.

I guess it just depends on the fan watching.

I have a problem with that, it's actually funny when Cotto fans brag about that dirty move but then turn around and demonize Margarito for being dirty.

But as long as the fight continues and it doesn't look like a fighter has received too much damage from that dirty move, I can look past that and enjoy the rest of the fight. I mean it's like saying Castillo/Corrales 1 wasn't good because Corrales cheated by spitting his mouthpiece to buy time.

It doesn't prevent the fight from being a good fight just because one fighter had a dirty moment. That's the problem I have with what you are saying. Dirty stuff happens in plenty of great fights, let alone how many good fights have something dirty happen.

            Bojangles ... let's be honest:

            There are differences in intent.

Corrales spitting out a mouthpiece is WAAAAY different than bodyslamming your opponent because you're feeling like he's getting the better of you.

One does damage. The other is a tactic to survive.

I like seeing the science being put on display. Its beautiful. In the words of Hagler for Old ****e .. Anything less is would be uncivilized.

I'm not saying that what Cotto did was unforgivable. I'm saying that I don't think he beat Clottey square and fair. Its that simple.

But we can agree that it was a good bout.

I can agree with that, you don't want to see guys cheat and slam a guy, or low blow him to catch a break. It happens though, so as long as it isn't foul filled I don't mind it a ton if a fighter does what Cotto did in the Clottey fight. It's just going to happen sometimes. Though Cotto does have that and the low blow in the Judah fight, so it should be in Floyd's mind going into their fight that Cotto may try something dirty if he's getting his ass whooped, which I expect.

                Agreed.

This is why I never cared for BHOP. He's the dirtiest fighter in the game. I think even worse than Andrew Golota. And that's saying something.

Only and sole reason Clottey was in the fight was due to the MASSIVE cut due to Clottey's lead head style. Miguel was unable to be 100% out that eye.

Blood dripping into your eye will have a lasting effect, you just dont wipe it and goes away.

Either way, Miguel would have stopped him in <5 rounds.

BS when people talk about how "Clottey this and that".

                  Get real people.

Like PBF is the cleanest of all??????? Fugg off man.

Floyd will hit you when you are touching gloves, will elbow you all night long, and will unload into you like AKA Ortiz when you have your guard down.

BS. His is the dirties of all.

Cant wait 'till Cotto destroys FMJr. and to see al the flo0mos crying........
