Pacquiao Held Back By Trainers To Prevent Overtraining

    Well, I understand that nsb is full of fourteen year old ******s whose biggest training achievement is to go to the gym, do 5 sets of curls, pose for another half an hour in front of the gym mirror with their puny pump and then ask on internet forums why they either dont grow or suck at the sport of their choice but I will have to stand by my statement. There is no such thing as overtraining -- there is training done incorrectly, there is bad nutrition(as I suspect none of you fucks know anything about right nutrition) and there is lack of correctly done rest.
    This subject has been discusses about thousand times and if you ever cared to drop by training and nutrition forum there are numerous threads on the subject of "overtraining".
    So, go on, live in your little wonderland.

        cool.....they don't want Manny to be overtrained and we the fans don't want him undertrained.......we want Manny at his best because I have a strong feeling the BEST Cotto will show up on the 14th!!....can't wait!!

          There comes a point that if you train too much then your body aches too much etc... some people who I go gym with believe that if you train for too long, your muscles do not grow etc unless you take in a lot of protein.

          So in that sense, I think Ariza is right in saying that Manny shouldn't push himself too much or he will burn out.

          The human body does need rests, but not too much either. Everything in moderation.

            Well, you would be a complete moron if you, for example, bench pressed 5 times a week. It's just people forget that there are many different ways to train yourself besides weight lifting or boxing and variation is the key but...
            Fuck, who am I kidding, none of these fucks know anything about real training, they get their advice from Men's health magazine and will never amount to anything in their lifes.

              True, it is always adviasble to change up your routine so you don't train one thing for too long.

              If Manny ran fast and did lots of miles, it could end up just making him really sore and he won't be able to run the enxt day. What is healthier is the question?

              A hard 10 miles and no training the next day or maybe a good pace of 8 miles for 2 days in a row.

              I'm training for the London Marathon in April and the advice from people and the event spnsors is to not go too hard and increase yourself to peak near March/April.

              It depends on what Manny does everyday I suppose aswell. I personally don't think running hard everyday is a good thing to do because you put yourself at risk of doing damage.

                Way to show how much more mature you are than the rest of the posters here.

                Overtraining is very real and is probably the biggest cause of injury (aside from improper form). You may be nitpicking your definition of what overtraining is but it is a valid concern for atheletes. You point out some specific actions, however, overtraining is more of a general term that emcompasses those and more.

                  Nice that you assume your the only one that has researched fitness and training.

                  In this reference of overtraining, Pac's conditioning coach is specifically preventing Pacquiao from pushing himself too much in order to allow his body to be able to recouperate and heal up so he can operate 100% come fight night. If he continued to do his 4 hour training sessions and spar 15 rounds a day he'd be burnt out and weak.

                    Yep, that Diamond belt sure is coveted, especially since no one has ever fought for it before and it was a BS title made up for one fight and means absolutely nothing, but of course, it's still the most coveted belt in boxing and has been for some time now. Everyone wants to get their hands on one of those things!

                    It is the most important belt for a champion to have these days.
