Comments Thread For: Galal Yafai on the ?interim? title: ?I don?t know how it works; I?m not world champion?
The affable and honest Galal Yafai is focused on becoming world champion ahead of Francisco Rodriguez test but, as he tells Tris Dixon, he?s not there yet

I love the honesty. **** on those phony titles! Great! Yafai needs to get moving though... He's 32 already.. Should probably try to fight some of the other 2 champions as Teraji is looking to unify or move up...

Rumors says Teraji is looking to move up to 115 after his next fight scheduled in July, so Yafai might get the email belt although he probably won't be happy about the way he gets it. Hopefully he is willing to unify with the other two when it happens.

Good point: Kenshiro Vs Bam is the biggest financial fight availible for the two of them, be it in Japan, Saudi or the USA. While a defence against Gal is high risk low reward & with the WBC involved who knows!

In hindsight had Yafai not had this fight and Kenshiro vs Yafai was next month, it would've been a two birds one stone of a low risk high-enough reward (defeat the Tokyo Olympics gold medalist which would've been some brownie points for Kenshiro atleast in Japan given the whooping Yafai got.

Yafai would do absolutely nothing for Kenshiro's resume. He already has wins over Ganigan Lopez twice, Pedro Guevara, Milan Melindo, Masamichi Yabuki, Hiroto Kyoguchi, Anthony Olascuaga, Hekkie Budler, Carlos Canizales, Cristofer Rosales, and Seigo Yuri Akui.
Francisco Rodriguez will be a better head to mount on Teraji's wall than Yafai any day of the week. Former unified champion who is 5-5 against other world champions.

I meant if this fight never happened, and instead of Sandoval Teraji had just ended up fighting Yafai in July. Rodriguez is unrelated in that situation.
In terms of resume addition, I think it would've been Yafai (undefeated if not for this fight Tokyo Gold Medalist) > Sandoval (highest ranking WBA guy left over due to Yankiel Rivera and Cordova having an interim fight instead).
