How can he be number 1 when the last credible opponent he has fought was a Oscar? That was 2 fights ago. And it was a competitive fight for him, when he actually fought someone who had a pulse. He hasn't fought any top wws for awhile or is it ever since we seen what happened to baldy and judahs careers.

Floyd,Floyd....
Can you understand that Judah get KTFO 3 times when he faced real elite fighters(not Spinks)??
THREAT??
Hatton get KTFO by a former flyweight champ in two rounds???THREAT??
And don't tell me Ricky was shot, cuz he stopped Malignaggi in his previous fight something Cotto didn't...
Why everybody hate Floyd???Because he's such a hatable person:bablin, duckin, playin the race card, doesn't really make great fights,he's actually an all time good,no more...

Pacquiao vs Mr.Counterfeit Cash? Nobody will know until they fight.
Being the best boxer doesnt necessarily mean you beat the best fighter.
Mijares better boxer got beat by Darchinyan better fighter.
Cotto better boxer got beat by Margarito better fighter.
Ray Leonard better boxer got beat by Duarn better fighter the 1st time.
Alexis Arguello better boxer got beat by Pryor better fighter.
You can easily flip the script & find countless times a better boxer beat a better fighter. The point is you never know until they get in the ring. You dont win fights by claiming it hypothetically. You have to get in the ring & verify it.

I personally think Mayweather's number 1. Not because he beat JMM or because that's where he was when he left. It's because I just can't see anybody out there that could beat him.
IMO Pac is the only one who could actually trouble Mayweather, but I think May would win that fight too.

fitzsimmons is a boxing charlatan. he's so impressed with mayweather when pbf is too big for marquez. pbf did not even submit for weigh-in before the fight because he was weighing over 160lbs. he did not mind forfeiting 600T just to ensure he's 20 pounds heavier than his old opponent.
ivan calderon is more impressive than mayweather because he beat the bigger and younger opponent in rodel mayol.

Without dipping my toe into the message boards and other fan forums since the final bell of his fight with Juan Manuel Marquez Saturday night/Sunday morning, I can pretty much assume that as a prevailing sentiment.
But you know what?
He's a real-life Satan incarnate who can, ahem... fight like hell.
In pitching an absolute, complete and comprehensive shutout of Marquez the critics' pre-comeback choice as the world's No. 2 fighter in his first ring action since 2007, the Pretty Boy now known as "Money" has answered one question with dominant certainty.
He, and not Manny Pacquiao or any other 21-month stand-in, is the world's best fighter.
Don't believe it?
Watch the tape. Or re-watch it, as the case may be.
And over the course of 36 minutes, find me one thing that says otherwise.
One flaw. One error.
One ***** in the armor that truly indicates regardless of the fact different styles make different fights Pacquiao will do any better when he gets his chance next year.
But before you do, though, I'll save you all a little time.
Don't bother.
It doesn't exist.
Nowhere in a stretch of 12 rounds did Marquez do one specific thing or take one specific tack that caused the unflappable 32-year-old even a moment's worth of consternation. [details]

Pacquiao should pressure with speed and aggression, and and cut the distance between the 2 guys don't give him time to think or space to measure him out. The right uppercut would be good as Floyd always ducks to the left after a right counter shot.

Will you guys be saying the same then if/when Cotto
beats Manny? That he beat a Light weight/Jr Welter
Weight or smaller man? The double standards are out
of control. Now I bet you people will say "But Manny
has already fought at higher weights and JMM hasnt"
TRUE but Manny had two didnt break a sweat fights
at 147/140 AND JMM fought a prime skillfull Mayweather.
I think if Floyd fought Pac it will be the same result NO
matter how many think Manny is so great and JMM is
old.
Fact of the matter is that JMM gave Manny the
toughest fights of his entire career TWICE AND JMM
has always been older than Manny the first and 2nd time.
Is all about skill, weight comes into play but people cant
take away from Floyd display this past Saturday night.
JMM trained his heart out and is one of the top fighters,
and he got totally outclassed from round 1 to 12.
I see Floyd doing the same thing to Cotto and anyone
else his size. Everyone needs to just face it, regardless
of Floyd faults and insecurities, when he gets in that
ring, fighters cant hang. Now Castillo will be bought up,
Ok fair enough but I believe Floyd was injured in the first
fight and beat him soundly in the 2nd....... Too bad Manny
couldnt do that to JMM. Im sure Mosley is going to get
his turn and Cotto....... Pacquiao will get creamed too,
cant wait to hear what the almighty Freddie Roach has
to say.

I think deep down you know he hasn't fought a legitimate welterweight so you dance around the question and yet label everyone else as haters. That doesn't end/stop the debate, the point still stands....WHO HAS FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR. FOUGHT AT WELTERWEIGHT THAT WAS/IS A VIABLE THREAT SINCE HE STARTED CAMPAIGNING AT THAT WEIGHT CLASS? WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THOSE WHO ACTUALLY FOUGHT IN THE DIVISION.
You can choose to call me hater simply because I pose a question that you'd prefer to dance around, rather than directly answering, it's very simple, he hasn't fought anyone of substance. I'd even give him credit if he fought Clottey,Margarito...anyone in the division at this point.
FYI --criticism and hating are two completely different things.
We already know that he is a great talented boxer, but the question still remains, did he fought the best in his current weight division (w/c WW)?
This question & doubt against Floyd will lingers until such time he proved himself otherwise.
Animalavenue - any direct to the point answer or comment?
