im sure its been said 100 times already lookin at how many replies this got but floyd lost whatever crown he had when he left boxing. he cant come back a year or two later, beat a lightweight, and be called #1 pound for pound again. if it actually worked that way, there'd be no order in boxing at all

Floyd is P4P No. 1 and will easily beat Manny it's as simple as that.

Although I agree that Mayweather is just better than Marquez, one thing that annoys the hell out of me is the following I constantly see from his fans. Pointing out that the size didn't equate to much and if you're more skilled it doesn't matter as shown by Mayweather/Oscar 1 at 154.

What people fail to realise though is that both times it was Mayweather going up against a much older, worn fighter. In the case of Oscar he had lost numerous times and was well on his way to be done, flat out. Against Marquez, he was certainly more skillful but he was still much younger, much bigger facing a guy that was jumping up two more divisions after jumping up to lightweight only a year previously already. Mayweather had already been a WW for some time before moving up to face Oscar, who wasn't actually that much bigger. Certainly didn't have a sic inch reach advantage over the already much smaller man.

Anyway, that's all besides the point. If Mayweather was the much older guy coming up a couple of divisions to fight a prime bigger guy then the comparison would make sense, but I have a feeling that that would never happen. Too much of a risk. Good business sense, bad fan sense.

you are 100% right. all the idiots hating on Mayweather know nothing about boxing. the bottom line is the guy is a great boxer, the best there is. as for Kellerman, that idiot should just go and be a news reader at Fox news or something. He doesn't know how to conduct a post fight interview and oh, Shane Mosley should go away too. MAYWEATHER IS NUMBER ONE

Lyle Fitzsimmons is an idiot. most ******ed article i've ever read on boxing scene. mayweather is a great fighter but he shouldn't be fight blown up light weights he should take on the best welterweights. guys like cotto, mosley, williams. I can't believe so many people are pushing the pacquiao mayweather i think mayweather wins without losing a round. i think it will be another mismatch.

if not for that extra weight of floyd then JMM's punches could hurt him.. we saw how many punches of jmm just bounce back when hitting floyd because that extra weight served as shield and though it landed, it was not that impressive to see because of the obvious disparity in their weight.. another great pick of opponent and tactic by floyd.. pac still the number one fighter when it comes to excitement and domination of opponent

only until after the fight between pac & pbf will i decide if pbf is trully #1

for now pac will remain my # 1

[QUOTE=BIGPOPPAPUMP;6154261]By Lyle Fitzsimmons - Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the devil.

Without dipping my toe into the message boards and other fan forums since the final bell of his fight with Juan Manuel Marquez Saturday night/Sunday morning, I can pretty much assume that as a prevailing sentiment.

                      But you know what?

He's a real-life Satan incarnate who can, ahem... fight like hell.

In pitching an absolute, complete and comprehensive shutout of Marquez ?the critics' pre-comeback choice as the world's No. 2 fighter ?in his first ring action since 2007, the Pretty Boy now known as "Money" has answered one question with dominant certainty.

He, and not Manny Pacquiao or any other 21-month stand-in, is the world's best fighter.

                      Don't believe it?

Watch the tape. Or re-watch it, as the case may be.

And over the course of 36 minutes, find me one thing that says otherwise.

                      One flaw. One error.

One ***** in the armor that truly indicates ?regardless of the fact different styles make different fights ?Pacquiao will do any better when he gets his chance next year.

But before you do, though, I'll save you all a little time.

                      Don't bother.

                      It doesn't exist.

Nowhere in a stretch of 12 rounds did Marquez do one specific thing or take one specific tack that caused the unflappable 32-year-old even a moment's worth of consternation. [details][/QUOte

As much as i like reading some article that praises floyd it just makes me feel more ashamed to be a mayweather fan.
