This is NOT the Olympics my man. You need to score fights on more than just punches that score. The emphasis is on clean effective punching. Effective means punches that do more than pop zits. Paulie does not have much power in his right hand due to injury and he landed 111 out of 621 jabs. That means 511 of them hit Diaz gloves or arms.

That judge should be banned from the sport...
That is a little bit harsh but the 118-110 score was pretty bad look at the scores int eh Dawson Johnson fight we had a sim score should that judge be banned too. See above comment about blocking with his face.....Lefty

Those pop-zit jabs had to have real pop if he threw 600+ and only landed 100 something and had Diaz right side looking like he got hit with a brick...

Paulie has a very stiff jab, I don't understand how you all are downplaying it. Obviously he woudn't be able t score a KD with it, let alone a KO, but it did enough for it to be Paulies fight. I mean look at Juan's face, he was bruised up and cut. Also take into fact that Juan's skin tone is much more dark, so the fact those bruises were visable were a visual display of Paulie's jab.

He did not have the luxury of Max Kellerman letting him know that Malignaggi was landing punches like the HBO audience had.

Last I checked there's more to judging than just blocking the jab and the lack of power on the jab.

            This guy is a douche

If I slapped you in the face 100+ times I could bust your eye open and leave marks on your face. It is often the punch that doesn't land cleanly that opens cuts and leaves marks. Ask anyone who knows boxing and they will tell you that. Having you hand low like he did and bringing it up to punch like that lessens the power because you are using more energy and going against gravity. Punching up lessens power his jab was stiff at time but some of them were just flung out there while he was moving to make it look like he was doing more than just running. Moving back wards and throwing punches even takes more steam off you punches. I am not going to argue but because he left some marks doesnt mean he throws hard punches....Lefty

Agreed but when you whole game is jab jab jab and you aitn landing them what else is there to score. 118-110 was horrible but in the rounds where Paulie thrwo combos off the jab I scored it for him other rounds where he just jabbed an circled to his left I saw Diaz throwing hooks at the body and head landing over hand rights and backing Paulie up I gave those rounds to Diaz....Lefty

Funny point you make, but ironic since in your avatar photo, Paulie obviously must have cut himself, eh? Cuz he's already cut during his ringwalk....

I dont think he this judge meant that he(the judge) needed Paulies Jab to be hard I think he meant that it was soft in that it was not cetting through the gloves enought for the judge to see "effective" landing punches.
after watching the fight again I still though paulie disserved a better score but I could see the difficulty in scoring the fight .

So why didnt Paulie go after juan ,when he was hurt and cut, more agressively?, it seemed to me that he thought he was winning from the 7th or 8th and started running way too much.

Any thoughts on juans move up in weight and how he carried the extra pounds? i thought he was good on stamina, he seemed a step slower also.

Boxing isn't just about who hits harder moron. Paulie Malignaggi is not a power puncher, he is not strong and his hands are extremely brittle so he can't throw damaging power punches. No one on the planet who knows anything about boxing thinks that fight was that one sided, and a good number think Malignaggi won. This is horrible reasoning but not surprising from a guy who just gave a home town decision and is getting massacred for it.
