Van Hoy And The New York Boy
Gale Van Hoy is not a *********. He is simply a judge who has a particular preference in fighting styles and is prone to home cooking. It does not signal anything more then business as favoritism on certain parts of the globe. Evander's robbery against Valuev was certainly more offensive but Evander took his misfortune like a man and did not bite the hand that feeds him. When a fighter requires a very large stage to dance upon and lacks power, that combination makes his combinations appear much weaker then those of an aggressive opponent. Juan Diaz has limited power as well but gives the appearance of a forward force of perpetual motion.
Had this fight taken place at Madison Square Garden, it would have gone the other way.
Given his limitations, that is an honest compliment.
That is also boxing. Paulie is making a lucrative living from these contests and should make his feelings known, but vocalize in a less vindictive or sensational fashion unless he is truly prepared to work construction as an occupation.
Until then, honor the sport that gave us Ali, Alexis, Forrest and Arturo.
Honor your own skills and represent your craft with integrity and fistic assaults, not verbal assaults. It's all in the game and when this sport is good, on any given day or evening, there is no athletic thrill that compares to it.

I had it 115-113 Malignaggi, yes it was close and I could see how it could've gone Diaz's way.
Okay, so what if Paulie's jabs/punches were pitter punches, there were rounds Diaz was basically following Paulie around and clearly punching air!
I guess Van Hoye prefers air punching over pitter pat jabs!
Diaz couldn't deal with the movement and looked lost throughout the fight with all the lateral footwork Paulie was givin' him.

If he was gonna judge the fight on paulies power he shuddnt have even seen the fight & just scored it from looking at paulies record (5KOs). This guys is an ******* paulie deserves a re-count lol.
& where Diaz jabs strong ? Bah if he even got any off. But truth be told Diaz sucks !!! Big time, he cuddnt make any kind of ajustment in the fight.

I only wish i could speak to Van Hoy personally.
Those comments in his interview he made are some of the most horrible i've heard in a long time. He makes no sense.
First off since when does a fight get scored based on who has more power in their punches? show me where this is guidelines of scoring a boxing match (at any level of competition). its NEVER been about the HARDER shots. and landed shot is a landed shot. period. it counts. doesnt matter if its just a mere jab or a huge wild overhanded right cross.
boxing is about hitting and making your opponent miss when he attempts to strike you. plain and simple. and thats EXACTLY what paulie malignaggi did in the majority of the rounds...because he forced his style onto diaz (and even settled to trade with diaz from time to time) and did a better job boxing diaz than diaz did attempting to brawl him.
thats how i scored it for paulie. he had his way in majority of the rounds and so every round he performed better he earned a round on my card. thats how boxing works. NOT who hits harder...if thats the case paulie would be having 2 wins and 20 something losses instead of the other way around.
second off as far as scoring a fight for paulie in little rock goes my question would be, "was he fighting a texas native?". and that doesnt matter even if it was. were not talking about back then were talking about right now.
third...he says, "maybe i was off by a round or two"....a round or two...really now? a round or two is probably what your score should have been to make you look less corrupt and/or a moron.
AND not to mention he claims that most of paulie's shots were blocked by diaz' gloves. well i dont know what fight he was watching but most of the blocks i seen were paulie blocking diaz' shots while the crowd goes insane as if they landed. So much so that the TV announcers made it clear that those shots that were exciting the crowd didnt land (incase we couldnt already tell or were fooled by the crowd) and to even further prove it they showed it in slow motion between rounds.
So therefore I think this judge needs to be banned from judging anything...including county fair pie eating contests.

while it wasnt an absolute beatdown from paulie you have to look at the facts and i dont see how one could have scored it so bad.
FACTS:
A) by looking at the two faces after the fight who APPEARED to have gotten the worst of it?
B) COMPUBOX. it backs up my arguement for paulie. How is it that he attempts and lands more punches than diaz but ends up losing 10 rounds to 2rounds? how?
im just sayin.

I agree Paulie controlled the distance int eh fight and used his jab and was busy but if you look at the final punch stats the total punches landed was 178 to 191. So Paulie only landed 12 more punches than Juan. He threw 621 jabs and landed only 18% (111) Diaz landed (123) power shots and (55) jabs.. They gave Paulie credit for landing 80 power shots mostly lead right hands with not much on them. Any way you see it the fight was close but I still think Juan won the fight. he was the agresser and landed the harder shots. He threw more than just jabs....Lefty
