The fight with Johnson fell through unfortunately, but he had called out Jones frequently after 2001 (when your quote was taken from), as Jones acknowledges.

Oh so you're one of the clowns who thought Jone should have gone to Wales to fight the WBO trinket holder.

Gotcha. Clearly Joe wanted this fight on his own
terms: aka he did not want this fight.

Your Joe fanboy goggles are unbelievable. If Joe wanted the fight he would have done what Woods did, come to Roy and make the fight happen. TALKING about fighting Jones and doing something to make it happen are completely different.

Your quote implies that Jones should have taken compromises to go fight a WBO trinket holder who was in a holding pattern of LAUGHABLE defenses at the time and fight him on his own terms a weight below him.

        Gotcha.

I also like how you imply that Jones and Hopkins 'didn't want to know' ( a clear sign that you worship Joe) but excuse that Joe "didn't want to know" Glen Johnson, not once-but TWICE. That was just "unfortunate" right?

I didn't say he should have - I just said Calzaghe called him out, which you denied and you were wrong.

I also said that Calzaghe should have been more willing to travel despite his fear of flying. But you seem to think that anyone who isn't completely anti-Calzaghe must be a "fanboy" - which presumably means you classify The Ring as a "fanboy" of Calzaghe's (see here).

Your apparent hatred of the guy is irrational and has nothing to do with boxing.

NO. I know he was TALKING a lot of ****. YOU SAID JONES DID NOT WANT TO KNOW.

Also I know Joe always talked trash. Too bad he never backed it up or showed he actually wanted that fight.

Nice tangent point- but a fanboy is a fanboy

Calzaghe would have fought either Jones or Hopkins in their "primes" and in the USA had they shown any interest in fighting him back then! Other then those 2 fighters Joe had no reason to be fighting in America since he was making more in the UK.

Not really a good excuse. If he came for one big fight with Jones and won he would be making a lot more money wherever he fought, plus the whole proving your the best stuff (but that's overrated anyway).

Johnny Rebel was saying that in his opinion, Calzaghe would have fought Jones in the US, if Jones had expressed any interest in fighting him. bsrizpac has a different opinion. It's impossible to prove one way or the other, but it's undeniable that when Calzaghe was calling him out, Jones never expressed any interest - he never said "I want the fight but only if you come to the US". But I agree that Calzaghe could have pushed harder for the fight than he did. I think he wanted it, and that he probably would have been willing to travel if Jones had shown any interest, but it's a shame Calzaghe didn't push harder for it at that time. And Hopkins did come close to signing to fight Calzaghe soon after beating Trinidad, and then pulled out at the last minute over money, after suddenly asking for his share of the purse to be doubled.
