I see a lot of dumb ass Floyd boys calling Cotto and his fans hypocrites for wanting him to fight De La Hoya.. why do you want Cotto to fight him but not Mayweather? Ugh, simple.. because Floyd already fought him once and beat him.. there is no point in a rematch!!
There is a point in a Cotto vs. DLH fight though, it brings more exposure to Miguel Cotto and puts him in the spotlight like it did Floyd and generates more interest for Mayweather vs. Cotto to fight!! No one was against the first Mayweather De La Hoya fight in the first place.. I think the majority of us can agree looking at it now that though it did nothing for Mayweather's record and legacy (like it wont do nothing for Cotto's) It did put him in the spot light however.
When history looks back at these champions the De La Hoya fights will be of little to no significance career wise since he is old other then the fact that it got two champions who otherwise wouldn't of been as well known exposure.
The De La Hoya Cotto fight isn't about legacy and has no legacy value at this point of Oscar's career IMO but that isn't what the fight is about..
It's about getting Cotto up there so Mayweather can stop being a little girl and saying he isn't well known and doesn't have a fan base etc.. and get him to fight...
I know he is retired now but if this fight is made and this fight is won by Cotto.. I can almost guarantee Floyd comes out of retirement to fight him.
If he doesn't then.. well at least it gets Cotto exposure and makes his fights and the welterweight fights he is in more views and by doing so also exposes the audience to the other welterweights in the division.
