. . . it is a Stanley Kubrick film. I was unaware of it until just now; don't know if this is old news or not.

- -This was a short made as filler for movie theaters between films.
Kubrick still wet behind the ears earning his chops.
I gather the twin aspect of the Cartiers added to the human interest angle, but Walter was indeed a contender with some HOF names on his record.

I just caught up with "Killer's Kiss," Kubrick's second film (1955) with Jamie Smith, Irene Kane, and Frank Silvera. The hero is a faded fighter, but there's only one fight scene in the ring. It's not all that realistic; how often when a boxer gets knocked down, does he shake his head as vigorously as a terrier that got rained on? Right, he's thinking "all I need to clear the cobwebs is to shake my head at 50 mph..." but it was a noir that held my attention, mostly thanks to quirky Irene. I also just caught up with "Grudge Match," which I'd avoided because it got such bad reviews. I was pleasantly surprised by the in-jokes that only fight fans would get, and the plot twists. For "Rocky" and "Raging Bull" to sign on for it, the script had to have some merit and I thought it did.
