And I don't think it will take a Shakespearian level actor to portray Arturo Gatti.

I could see the guy who played Louis in the Joe and Max cable movie doing a good job again. Not sure who could play Hopkins, but there's probably a young actor out there with a similar face that can be trained.

The thing about boxing biopics is that there has to be a dramatic personal story. Lots of great fighters had awesome careers but their personal lives are not always turbulent. I actually prefer a straight up fictional boxing film where those things don't have to be kept in line with reality which is hard.
I'd like to see a movie with a great personal story line to go along with awesome fight scenes that are drawn from real fights. Not necessarily who wins or loses, but in the fighting itself. One thing annoying about many movies is the overdrama of the punches taken and dished out. Rocky is great movie but no one on earth can take all of that and still live. I thought Raging Bull's scene were much more realistic and plausible and of course, they actually happened. I also prefer an actor who actually does understand a thing or two about boxing. I know he's playing a part but the fighting itself has to look great. I read where Russell Crowe trained like a dog for Cinderella Man and it shows in the fighting.
It has to be emotional as it can get. You have to root for the fighter no matter what. In a biopic, we already know what happens. In a fictional film, we don't. So many crazy things have happened in the ring, from bad decisions to other forms of controversy and surprise that have not been touched in movies. I'd like to see a film about a so-so guy who is often overlooked but not a bum taking on the guy who is popular and a real beast who comes out blazing. The blazer tries to ice him but the guy shows just how great he really is and the blazer can't hit him. He busts the blazer up but then the blazer shows us just how great he is by finding his rhythm and taking the fight back from him and then the regular guy coming back to have the blazer pretty much done. Where it goes from there? It can go many directions, but it would show what the so-so guy is made of and how he's overcame mediocrity and how maybe the guy who the media portrays as unbeatable, is just a man like everybody else. Anyway, that's my movie idea.

Sometimes it unfortunately takes a big name in the entertainment industry taking a interest such as Mark Walberg in Micky Wards story for a big budget movie to be made.
That being said does anyone have any interest in Stallones Creed project

I'd like to see the book "Tunney" made into a movie. Although it was mostly about Tunney and Dempsy, it also talked a lot about Greb. Watching how the three of them maneuvered in the boxing game during the Roaring Twenties would make for great theater.
